It’s mainly a staycation.

We’re moving furniture around , getting rid of no longer necessary furniture and making cat friendly climbing shelves along the walls.

I managed to boot up an old NAS (by fixing the fans and re-soldering some broken connectors) and discovered it had content I thought I had lost forever.

Today my five weeks of paid summer vacation starts. Looking forward to taking it easy and puttering about with plants, redecorating at home and planning out a new network setup, in between hanging out with friends, visiting new places and trying new things.

As another user wrote, thank you @LadyButterfly@piefed.blahaj.zone for starting these Friday conversations.

Reminds me of my grandma. She used to have grand mal seizures. We, her grand kids, recognized the pre-attack symptoms (when we were around) and used to get her to sit down (not lie down), arrange good neck and side support for her, had her drink some booze and bite down on a folded kitchen towel. This made the seizure almost non-noticeable and she could usually be up and around five minutes afterwards.

If we weren’t around, we’d meet her up at the hospital and then drive her home a two to five days later and had to support her for the coming weeks, as her head wasn’t right.

She absolutely refused to go into a caring home or have more support at home. Her pride killed her.

Ensure that you and your kids have dual citizenship.

What is wrong with this timeline? It makes the Cold War and various idiocies from then seem fully sane and normal.

Don’t worry, someone will let you know with a deeply snarky comment.

Maybe they should focus all of their efforts on the 1% now.

Ok, thank you, good night, now I’m off watching owl and birdwatching videos as brain bleach before I fall asleep.

I kind of prefer my Switch 2 fantasy compared to visualizing Marquis de Sade writings…

While most of us would applaud that as "finally some consequences for that murderous despot!" it's probably more of a "nah, not interested, just use any old excuse so that I can stay at home and play some sweet sweet video games!".

Was cleaning up in my picture archive and came across this one. Had to do a reverse image search, as I had completely forgotten what the subject was about. Then I found some relevant articles, here's one:

An 8.9 magnitude earthquake hit Japan on March 11, 2011, and this picture was so orderly and serene compared to the other ones from the disaster. Which is probably why I decided to save it.

Supposedly melatonin-infused (among other things) patches, sold on Amazon. If I were to fall asleep at the office, I sure wouldn't need any help with that. In the car though... scratches head

Probably one of the least interesting posts I've ever made...

Some spoons from a cutlery set, a series called “Rosen” from a department store, Åhléns, in Sweden. It’s from the 1970’s, and was produced up until the early 2000’s.

Left to right:

  • Mocca spoon
  • Coffe spoon
  • Tea spoon
  • Dessert spoon
  • Latte spoon
  • Compot/drink spoon
  • Tablespoon
  • Serving spoon

They all get used on a daily or weekly basis.

Wanted to share from some of my thrifting results. I've been trying to complete my cutlery set from a series called "Rosen" from a department store, Åhléns, in Sweden. It's from the 1970's, and was produced up until the early 2000's. I've been going to thrift stores, made swaps with friends and and acquaintances, and their families and acquaintances, and received some items as a gift. The latest spoon, the serving spoon, was found online through Tradera, an eBay-like platform in Sweden. I am still missing a salt spoon as far as I know.

Left to right:

  • Mocca spoon
  • Coffe spoon
  • Tea spoon
  • Dessert spoon
  • Latte spoon
  • Compot/drink spoon
  • Tablespoon
  • Serving spoon

They all get used on a daily or weekly basis. Currently using a small silver spoon as a salt spoon until I can get my hands on a Rosen salt spoon.

Was backing up old pictures and found this one that I really liked.
