The last time I watched alien was on dissos and it was so unfathomably good I've always been afraid to go back and watch it again because I'm sure I'm going to be a little disappointed.

This was basically the titular quote from Steinbeck's "The Grapes of Wrath", which largely is about the plight of tenant farmers during the dust bowl and great depression.
I think that Japanese history puts it ahead. Beyond what they did in Asia outside their country, they also oppressed Japanese natives, such as the Ainu. Moreover afaik they are even more resistant to owning their own atrocities
It's a book that I personally learned to appreciate more over the years, and would also recommend to anyone

My experience of french Canadians is that they were generally incredibly reactionary, actually.
