I was in one when my state happened to legalize weed, and all of the Boomers were appalled, including the ones who was notorious for being a huge drunk boater party guys. Weed is still kinda taboo for people over 45 or so. My parents smoked when they were younger and are still not fans.

This sums up the American foreign policy project in general. People assume it's because of the Conservatives/modern GOP but it's actually deeply part of the "Progressive" movement. "Woke imperialism" has been then game of the game for 400 years because we Americans are morally righteous, a shining beacon of hope for all mankind, and we're gonna come save you and make sure you live a moral life too.

People give Los Angeles and Las Vegas a lot of shit for being uninhabitable wastelands, but Houston is 1000x worse. The entire city is built on a paved over swamp that tries to reassert itself everytime there's a heavy rain (i.e. multiple times a year). Too little water is a much easier technical challenge to solve than too much water. Not to mention that the sprawl makes LA look like Tokyo.
