Probably quite a few, but it's more likely most people don't bother trying to considering the process to enter the CPC is fairly strict; if I remember you have to undertake rigorous party study sessions, pass examinations and background checks, and have an existing party member be your mentor throughout the whole process. And this can take at least several years before you're finally admitted.

According to this SCMP article around 32 000 people left the CPC in 2010, but the party official who quoted this number didn't give a breakdown of it.

As a non-American, I couldn’t give any less of a damn what a single New York mayor will or will not do, because ultimately he doesn’t have any control over American foreign policy which does affect me and everyone I know.

I will say this though: the amount of glazing I’ve seen Americans on this site give this “socialist” reminds me a lot of when the old chapo subreddit was glazing Bernie and AOC back in the day as the new revolutionary movement. And look where that got you guys back-to-me

Good video essay about how current Western chauvinistic attitudes towards Iran and the “east” in general did not actually start from colonialism, but was originally enabled by historical mythology started by the ancient Greeks over 2000 years ago during the Greco-Persian Wars and then popularized and later justified during the renaissance and the beginning of settler-colonialism.

To understand his worldviews is to understand liberal idealism. He doesn’t see institutions like NATO and the EU as inherently bad for the working people, just flawed because of a few corrupt conservatives. He doesn’t see the US government working as an imperialist blob that led to its current state and foreign policy, just a few far-right Republicans and billionaires lacking decorum and doing uncivil things (and all being controlled by Putin because Russia is behind everything bad according to him), that will be corrected after 2-4 years because Democrats are so wholesome and based.

And like a liberal he’s also very contradictory and very much “vibes-based” with his beliefs. He understands what the Gulf and Afghan Wars were about and it’s consequences but doesn’t see the resemblance to the Russia-Ukraine War (he has the standard “Putler is a fascist megalomaniac and wants to take over Europe for no reason” liberal position, and thinks every Russian should be removed). Hell, it took a bit of convincing just to get him to realize what Israel is and why October 7th was an act of resistance against a violent colonizer, very likely because Biden was overseeing the initial genocide.

And I don’t doubt for a second if a Democrat/ liberal were trying to invade Iran my friend would throw all facts and logic out the windows and be 100% behind it.

Gonna save this for my lib friend who keeps arguing that Europe/ the West wouldn’t join the US in a war with Iran.

If the UK (piss be upon them) had a revolution back in the 70’s, this is how I’d imagine King Charles would be acting in exile.

In that case, it would be won WWII but lost the Cold War.

This reminds me sooo much of when Western media was interviewing Hong Kong Chinese “protesters” fleeing to Western countries in 2019. Same rhyme, different song.

The symbolic gesture of condemnation against the symbolic strike in retaliation to the symbolic strike.

Now we wait for the US to do their symbolic retaliation to Iran’s symbolic retaliation, while still giving Iran (and Yemen) the green light to bomb Tel-Aviv.
