Let me introduce you to my partner, Gabagool Pizzarino.

Yes, he is Italian. How'd you guess?

I'm reading "No More Tears", a book about the Johnson & Johnson company. It's kind of unreal how evil that company is, yet we don't hear much about it.

They were more responsible for the opioid epidemic than the Purdue Pharma. Not only did they fund more of the research that led doctors to over prescribe, they also grew the majority of the poppies used to make them. Far more people overdosed on their fentanyl patches than oxycontin. They also continued creating and selling new opiates as non-addictive, like tramadol and tapentadol, despite knowing this was not true.

They also sold talcum powder 30 years after they knew it was contaminated with asbestos, and at least 15 years after they had evidence that talc itself was causing cancers.

They sold Risperdal despite knowing it was worse than the Haldol it replaced. They created 2 new markets for the antipsychotic, children and the elderly, despite the fact it was never approved for anyone other than those with schizophrenia. More than 1.3 million elderly people died as a result of Risperdal, the vast majority of whom were being drugged by their nursing homes. J&J knew that nursing homes were using the drug to sedate difficult dementia patients, allowing them to get by with less employees.

I got an estimate to fix my car and the guy doing it kept talking and talking. He was mostly pleasant, but I have a hard time with long interactions with people who don't know me.

I'm fairly certain I'm neurodivergent because "being normal" is exhausting for me. When I'm with people who know me, I'm fine, I could conversate for hours. But with strangers I feel like I'm an actor in a play I really don't want to be in.

The estimate was $3600 with a used backup light saving me $400. Otherwise brand new parts getting it back to 100%.

Sucks, but I'm glad I know it'll be fixed right.

Backed my car into a power pole. So mad at myself. I was hurrying because I wanted to to get home, backed in to do a delivery. The pole had an electrical box on it and it creased a corner on my trunk and broke the backup light lens. Messed up the paint on the bumper when it bent, too.

Car insurance is such a scam. I've given them at least 20k over the years with only one $1400 claim, but if I have to use the insurance, I'm going to end up paying more in increased premiums.

Hopefully I can get it fixed with only a new trunk lid. I'm going to try to see if a shop can get me a junkyard part and blend the paint. Probably be minimum 3000, I bet more like 5000 if I elect to replace the bumper.

At least I can still use it while I wait

It's only grand juries that are secret.

Trial jurors are told they don't have to talk, but they are allowed to talk to whoever they want to.

Those little comments can really be amazing for your short-term mental health.

I want to be the kind of person who gives those compliments, but I'm afraid of people thinking I'm hitting on them or being a creep.

I have had larger than normal calf muscles my whole life. I have a theory it's because of toe walking, which is apparently an early sign of autism. I still sort of do it, although it's less pronounced.

Saw this police narrative in a Maine State court opinion:

spoilerAt 7:45 a.m. on July 7, 2023, an officer of the Cumberland Police Department was traveling east on Tuttle Road in an unmarked cruiser. He observed two individuals riding bicycles side-by-side ahead of him, also traveling east. Ray was riding to the left of the other cyclist and slightly to the left of the white fog line. Upon catching up to the cyclists, the officer slowed down and traveled behind them at approximately seventeen miles per hour for a short period of time. The officer then pulled his vehicle up beside the cyclists and said, “Single file, guys, single file.” Ray then yelled, “You can go f**k yourself.” The officer applied his brakes and activated the blue lights on his cruiser, and both cyclists pulled over to the side. The officer issued Ray a violation summons and complaint for failure to keep to the right of the road.
The violation was thrown out because the law is vague as to what "right side of the road" means; Meaning, is it to the right of the lane, or right of the road?

Republicans are betting their fear-mongering will work when people read the new ballot language at the polls.

Ohio Republicans are trying once more to thwart an amendment that would enshrine abortion rights in the state constitution, this time by amending the ballot initiative language to be more extreme.

The Ohio Ballot Board voted 3–2, along party lines, on Thursday to reject using the full text of the proposed amendment on the ballot in November. Instead, the ballot will have a summary of the proposal written by Republican Secretary of State Frank LaRose, using language such as “unborn child” instead of “fetus.” The summary also removes all mention that the amendment would protect non-abortion forms of reproductive health.

The full text of the amendment has not changed. The amendment would allow people to decide for themselves about all reproductive health, including abortion, contraception, fertility treatments, and miscarriage treatment. The state could only restrict abortion access after a doctor determines the fetus is viable or could survive outside the uterus. Even then, abortions can be performed if the patient’s health or life is at risk. The text also explicitly states that the state cannot “burden, penalize, prohibit, interfere with, or discriminate against” someone exercising their reproductive rights.

Still, the summary language is sure to sway some people at the polls. In addition to replacing the word “fetus” with “unborn child,” the summary also uses the phrase “pregnant person” instead of “pregnant woman” and refers to the procedures as “medical treatment” instead of a “decision.”

The new text makes two other crucial changes: First, it says that “citizens of the State of Ohio” cannot infringe upon reproductive rights, instead of the state, making it appear as if state officials could still intervene. The summary also says the amendment will “always allow an unborn child to be aborted at any stage of pregnancy, regardless of viability if, in the treating physician’s determination, the abortion is necessary to protect the pregnant woman’s life or health.” In doing so, the summary invokes the right-wing bogeyman of “late-term abortions,” a term designed to make it seem that pro-choice policies border on infanticide.

Interesting that they use the term, "pregnant person"? Ohio Republicans went woke!

Obviously it's just another blatant attempt to use transphobia to pass an abortion ban.
