Most corporations are set up such that their primary responsibility is to increase shareholder value, by their very nature they "must" behave like this by design, nothing else matters as much as shareholder value.

I sometimes think of these corporations as the first gen offspring of humanity, the first autonomous "intelligences" that are designed more or less to be giant predatory behemoths if they succeed in their objectives. They're even granted many of the rights of personhood in a lot of the world.

We tend to defer to material reality around these here parts.

Yeah I remember being like 11 or 12 or so in the 90s and finding a "teen sexuality" board where even my under developed mind could tell it was adults encouraging children to do bad things. I backed out rapidly. I'm glad I had that instinct. In the modern era when I was moderating a large discord community I realised there are a lot of people who stumble into these spaces and end up groomed into becoming groomers themselves later on.

Then they just like, can't even seem to see how creepy and fucked up their behaviour is. I almost feel like the situation is worse now than it was when I was young and on the early internet interacting with older-than-me but still young gen Xers, with pretty much zero reference point for what was or was not appropriate. I dunno. It was all text based for me back then and some inappropriate stuff happened that did not mess me up anywhere near as much as the consensual activities between myself and my peers in the real world.

The Evil Dead: Army of Darkness, set in the medieval zone Ash gets transported to with the undead skeleton army and the witches and stuff. It could look fairly true to the source material in the current Doom engine IMO. I dunno if I'd want to see it as a boomer shooter since so many use quotes from it already, maybe more like an adventure game or something, but with that plasticky looking 3d graphics.

The Evil Dead PSX game was not great.

Yo that's big of you and cool. My dad was kind of a dingus about my transness but he's super supportive and loving now, just took time. He's a total boomer too. They're just a bit calcified in the brain I think.

I'm here if you wanna vent.

Yeah that sounds really irritating. At least it's just a power supply issue tho. Your data will be fine and your laptop will live again.

Incel echo chambers are a total mindkill factory. I know someone who was going to basically kill themselves over it. Just stuck in one of those carnival sideshow distorted mirror mazes.

Depends how the laptop died but most likely you can open the laptop, remove the drive and put it in a cheap USB enclosure to access the files directly from another computer.

Total cost = cost of little screwdriver + appropriate drive enclosure = < $30 probably.

If your laptop died due to drive failure that's gonna cost ya.
