im probably wrong but i always had a sense it was the corporate or moneyed interest that made things worse, i can't see a genuinely materialist objection towards doing our best to interfere in the least harmful way possible, humans will do it anyway i think... might as well do it with good intentions and a long tern focus

this was my uncle who is a tenuref prof (i think in english or social studies) and i was so speechles. my best friend was confused, and calmly tried to explain (my friend is not a fan of china, but was probably more surprised) that there are finite resources but not so little there cannot be decent housing for everyone and i had to glare him down because for all his good intentions he was not going to get through...
