Letterkenny, maybe

Should this kid be able to get a job somewhere in that agency? Sure, maybe. Should they be leading a major government department with zero experience? Absolutely not.

Just like an alcoholic talking head shouldn’t be leading our defense department. Or a fucking WWE wife being anywhere near leading education for the country. This isn’t about qualifications. It’s about nepotism and grifting.

How did they get WhatsApp installed? Is a FaceTime or other video option available? Never give up, never surrender

I’m a huge train and transit advocate and I try to take Amtrak every chance I get. But “tickets are cheaper” does not feel like a blanket statement we can make. Maybe on very specific, usually short legs, like Chicago to Milwaukee. Someone correct me if I’m wrong or there’s more nuance but once a trip goes past 3 or 5+ hour mark, the price seems to skyrocket past airfare.

They are absolutely not and I find it sus you make this bizarre claim without providing a single example.

Link and shame them. I will fight every one of their authors in a 1v1 dual to the death

in Helldivers 2

I want to redesign my personal site around two things:

1 - Home page will be a personal landing page, like those “link in bio” tools to show people where you have accounts on social media, newsletters, etc. (such as https://bio.link/. I can share a basic personal page I’ve set up there but I don’t know if that’s allowed here)

2 - A decent blog experience, mainly for writing, sharing news links, and art I like (both personal and found)

Anyone know of a theme that tackles these two? I’m coming up empty handed with ThemeForest and Template Monster, even when trying variations of these keywords.

Thanks

I think it’s a joke that they keep meeting women through dating apps but it only turns into friendship, at best. And the women keep claiming they have a friend who would be a good fit for them, but then that never materializes

As if it’s failing at dating but with extra steps

As someone looking to dabble a small amount in investing, this sounds like it could be quite valuable information to share in the right spaces as it happens

It is completely normal to not want or enjoy driving. I don’t know where you live, but there are lots of areas and cities around the world where it easily possible to never own a car thanks to public transit and other readily available methods.

In the U.S. it can be tougher, but still possible. I live in Chicago and know plenty of people who are perfectly happy not owning a car. Personally I aspire to it, but my wife is a little car brained and it’s something we work ok.

Nice interview. As an iPad main, I remain cautiously optimistic about the new multitasking and windowing features in general, although it looks like Slide Over is functionally gone. This does not spark joy.

I don’t have the beta yet, but I’ve checked with a bunch of people who do. It seems that, because the windowing UI works much more like a Mac, there is no functionality to keep an app off to the side and easily swipe it back and away. If this is true, I am really going to miss Slide Over.

Split View is functionally there, which I also use extensively so that makes me happy. I get the iPad has limitations for some people who want to work on it the way they do on a Mac. But part of what I like about the iPad is its simplicity—I don’t have to fiddle with dragging window corners around all day. Open an app, drop a second app next to it. Done. It’s beautiful.

Sure, I’ll submit feedback to Apple to bring back Slide Over. But if it is truly dead, I’m gonna learn how to become a witch so I can place a curse on all the houses of the “just make the iPad a Mac” people.

The algorithm just brought this bassist + rapper to me and I’ve gone down the rabbit hole. Crazy talented. And is that a 7-string bass??

Here’s a bonus video with a different vibe. I’m really digging it. He also has some good tapping tracks.

Edit: Turns out it’s an 8-string guitar, 2 of which are bass strings to cater to this kind of playstyle. Wild!

He’d look better like this

Would Velociraptor Island count? Or Mega Shark versus Giant Octopus? 😆

My friends from the fencing team in a Milwaukee, WI suburban catholic high school were bored. We wanted to watch a movie, but didn’t want to spend theater prices. So we went to Blockbuster (!!) in search of something…. else.

No, not that you gooner.

We invented the rules on the car ride there:

  • None of us could have seen or even be aware of the movie
  • None of us can recognize any of the main actors in the film
  • Sci-fi or fantasy since those seemed to have the cheese we wanted

As we strolled along the shelves where most patrons don’t bother, there it was. Like a (scuffed) diamond in the rough: Cube

And it was glorious. lol

Bonus points: Two friends and I moved out to Denver, CO in the middle of college to go snowboarding and finish school (in that order). One of us became a manager at Blockbuster right at the beginning of the switch from VHS to DVDs. For whatever reason, his store started with the least rented titles they had, and their solution was to just throw all the VHS in the garbage.

One day he just showed up from work with ~ 4 or 5 huge garbage bags filled to the brim with the crappiest VHS films Blockbuster deemed unworthy to return to a distributor.

Around a week later he did it again.

It was the absolute (free!) jackpot of gloriously bad films.

There can be a tricky balance between building sequels or something new. Sometimes there is more you can do in a world, and people enjoy returning to worlds when there is good reason to.

I think the recent Doom reboot trilogy is a masterclass example. Not everyone enjoys each game, people often have different favorites. But the point is they’re all Doom and yet id Software did something unique with each one. New mechanics, new ways to play, pushing boundaries of what came before.

Of course, with Greek mythology, there is plenty more source material to explore and build on in a setting like Hades. They certainly hit a great formula to do it, and The People® were clamoring for it. But with SG’s established preferences for going after new ideas instead of sequels, I wouldn’t be surprised to see them do something else after Hades 2. Or who knows, maybe they’ll be able to grow enough to work on multiple games at once. That could come with its own challenges, but plenty of studios have done it.

I’m not great at it but I love this silly game so much

Meta stuff is fine but I enjoy creative and unique rolls and loadouts in this game. Find anything that floats yer boat? Show us what you got.

I’ve been busy with life so haven’t been able to play or farm as much as I’d like. Hopefully I can next week and when all three dungeons become available.

Let’s skip the negative/horror stories and focus on the good, wholesome, and funny stuff for once

One time I was on the Green Line out of the loop to Forest Park (when I lived there), this homeless lookin dude steps between the cars into mine. It was rush hour so fairly packed. He starts preaching

“Let me tell you the story of how I found Jesus!”

“I had the life. I had it all! I had the women, the house, the cars. I made a million dollars!”

“Then I lost it all. I hit rock bottom. I didn’t know where to turn, I thought it might be the end.”

“And that’s how I found Jesus. He saved me. And he can save you too.”

Someone from the other end of the car goes

“Yeah that’s great but how did you make a million dollars?”

Whole car erupts laughing. Dude turns around and goes back to the other car

This is from NPR’s coverage

Huge Jeff fan here. Anyone see an interview about how he was selected to add to the game? I’m curious how that process went because he strikes me as such an unlikely pick.

Like did they decide on the core roster, choosing some of the most popular characters from the MCU and comics, then had a brainstorming session for the most off the wall picks for some fun and whimsy? Maybe that’s how Squirrel Girl got in too.

The Pro is totally worth it IMO even just for handwriting, notes, etc.
