I'm really thankful this event was cancelled, but honestly quite infuriated that their permit was approved in the first place. It shouldn't take public outrage in order to not have fascists preaching their hateful rhetoric in public parks.

A few years ago some drag queen friends of mine received death threats before a performance in this very same park. Queer and other marginalized peoples don't deserve to be faced with violence in a city-approved public performance.

I used to pirate movies my older neighbour wanted to see and burn them on blank DVDs because she felt way more comfortable having discs than streaming. That could be an option if you have a tech-averse person in your life you care about.

I love his calm and simple approach to calling out dangerous behaviour from motorists.

I won't say that isn't a valid interpretation, but I've always thought the joke was simply "paranoid conspiracist thinks everyone is out to get him except the guy fucking his wife".

I think it also highlights Dale's sweet side; despite his tendency towards conspiracy, he refuses to see the obvious when Nancy is cheating on him because he is 100% in love and trusting of her. He literally can't imagine her betraying his trust like that. He will believe that Joseph is half-alien before doubting Nancy of wrongdoing.

I use they/them pronouns and work in the service industry. I've also worked with a few other trans people. That story is basically the opposite of how trans people act in public at their jobs, in my experience. We'll only every really correct people who misgender us if they're regulars and give off an OK vibe.

For me or anyone I know to call out a customer and tell them they're being rude would require something really egregious.

If the story is at all true, I'd bet your friend called her "sir" or something when asking for the refill.

Insane that you're getting downvoted for this. I feel like alcohol abuse is so normalised in a lot of places. This really shouldn't be a controversial comment.

I find it interesting to hear 5% ABV beer being described as "premium". Here (Canada) it's basically the standard for every macrobrew lager, or around 4% for their light varieties. More high-end, craft beers will vary between 3% and 10% depending on the type of beer.

Characterizing Peterson as a "talented and charismatic academic"?? I don't know, maybe he was before anyone knew of him, but he certainly hasn't been that in the public eye.
