The youngest boomers are 64 still. We may be done working with them in 10 years or so but they're stubborn. The ones still working then are the ones who never could win financially or are the ones who took advantage of everyone and never learned to stop.

This article is worthless. They stated how it could be the end of the studio and how it's telling for the industry, but they go on to say the studio literally only used it to do last-minute translations for Korean and Brazilian-Portuguese prior to launch before having a team refine and complete the translations post-launch. There's no real story here. It isn't like they used generative AI to help code or model something

So many don't understand this. When someone is depressed in such a way, it isn't uncommon to have already reached a point where you're just going through the motions of living life. It isn't that you don't want help or don't want to be better, but that so much has already been attempted and very little, if any of it, actually contributed to a lasting positive mental state. This is where serotonin and dopamine deficiencies come in, where people who are depressed to have the inability to ground themselves like the average person can.

At this stage, the help that is needed is specialized and intensive, and few people understand how to actually help and fewer still recognize if they have the resources to actually help.

Fun fact, many birds can and will hiss when they feel threatened. Parrots and some larger birds come to mind

That area has a lot of towns named after states from that time period like Syracuse, Utica, Rome, Carthage, New Berlin (/s)

That's why I advocate for elliptical machines if someone really wants to "run." Running isn't bad for you if you're wear proper shoes, have good form / posture, and run on soft ground. But many people don't do those and end up increasing their life expectancy but with terrible joints. Elliptical machines solve the issue by forcing your body to actually run properly but they eliminate the shocks that come with each step. And you're right - swimming is by far the best cardio anyone can do. Plus everyone needs to learn how to swim.

Sadly I can't do either for now, but hoping to by next Spring.

I used to run 3mi each day until I had to stop due to hip issues that I'm still trying to fix. I never thought I'd miss it this much. One of the biggest things I've been wanting to do for the past few years is to just run for the hell of it. You never realize how fortunate you are to do something until it's taken from you.

I don't think it used to be that way, but it has always struggled with class disparity to different degrees. When the financial security and physical health of people are compromised, they're less likely to be progressive.

The fact is that non-voters either have more important things to do than vote or don't feel they'd make an impact if they did vote.

When countries, states, and localities encourage education, promote mental and physical well-being, provide ample opportunities and fallbacks for financial security, and make it convenient to vote, then people more likely to at least vote, and at most vote progressively.

Scarcity promotes apathy, which promotes conservatism.
