Apparently inspired by “Dinosaur,” a pigeon statue on the High Line Plinth, at 30th Street and 10th Avenue

Doesn’t sound like it’ll be a recurring thing (they totally should do it again), but looks like it was lots of fun!

Called my partner’s dad to say Happy Father’s Day. Once we’re in the area, we’ll be going to our favorite steak dinner:)

Sadly I’ve gone no contact with mine for some years now. Too many differences, and then we had a bad fight that really pissed me off. He was incredibly rude to my long-time partner and I won’t stand for that shit.

I still hear about him occasionally from my siblings. It’s good to hear he’s healthy. There’s a possibility we could reconnect in the future, but I’m stubborn. And honestly the time apart has done wonders for my mental health🙂 Maybe someday

This is actually what comes to mind when I think of “dumpling.” I’m thinking more in a traditional sense? There’s a moist factor due to boiling or steaming

[–] DearMoogle@lemmy.today 1 points 1 week ago

But what about raviolis then? It seems like a dumpling but it’s also filled pasta. Gets blurry the more I think about it lol

We talked about some of those things! Then we were debating if size had anything to do with it. For example, would a tamale or calzone be a dumpling?

Or if you went the other way, could something like spätzle be a dumpling?🤔

This made for an interesting discussion at dinner lol. Lots of opinions on what is or isn’t a “dumpling” xD

A bit late but, in case you missed it!

Just watched this after hearing about Jimmy’s attendance at one of the No Kings protests. He hit allllll the points. So awesome to see someone with such a broad TV audience speak the truth. :)

“Reflections on the Thames, Westminster” is an artwork created by John Atkinson Grimshaw in 1880 in the United Kingdom. Employing oil on canvas, this piece belongs to the Impressionism art movement and measures 127 x 76.2 cm. It falls under the cityscape genre.

The artwork portrays an evocative nocturnal scene along the River Thames in Westminster. Illuminated by the soft glow of moonlight, the river reflects the lights from the surrounding architecture and bridge. The imposing structure of the Houses of Parliament can be seen prominently in the background, with the iconic clock tower (known today as Big Ben) clearly visible. Figures of people, including a person with a dog, are depicted walking along the embankment, adding a serene human element to the otherwise stark cityscape. The overall ambiance is serene yet deeply atmospheric, capturing the quiet majesty of London at night.

Forget fish ladder, they’re building a whole river! Lol

Basically The Netherlands built the Afsluitdijk dam to protect against flooding from the North Sea, but it blocks off the migratory path for fish seeking freshwater to breed. The Fish Migration River is being built to correct that. It’s projected to be completed by the end of 2026 and will be both a nature reserve and UNESCO site.
