Yeah, magic is very useful for exploring but not that effective in combat.

My one advice is you should have at least two combat skills. Because you will max out one very quickly and it will slow down levelling. I found blunt and long blade worked well because of the great weapons available. But one big downside I noticed is they both levelled strength, so I had to pay trainers to level non minor/major skills to compensate.

Short blade levels speed. Spear levels endurance. Marksman levels endurance. Pairing one of those with one of Long Blade, Axe or Blunt which all level strength is also a good idea.

Marksman, Short Blade and Long Blade. Good Samurai Build.

Spear is also a misunderstood skill. It's not meant to be the same as the other melee skills, a primary thing to fight with, it's a long-range skill for hitting enemies before they can hit you or from spots where they can't reach you and you're cheesing them.

I don't think they travel organically in Skyrim but if you hit an encounter spawn point you can generate a Noble or something travelling to a certain area. But in Fallout 4, provisioners and trade caravans do make their circuits, and you can follow them.

Not them, but my recent playthrough I had a warrior monk.

Major classes: Alteration. Mysticism. Long Blade. Blunt Weapon. Block

Minor: Speechcraft. Enchanting. Armorer. Light Armor. Heavy Armor.

Sign: Astronach (it's such a good defense and I wasn't casting a lot of combat spells).

Basically, fought with swords and mace/hammers as they are some of the best uniques. Using alteration and mysticism for the useful effects (Water walk, levitation, mark, recall etc).

Wore a mix of heavy and light armour (as boots of blinding speed and curiass of the savior's hide are light, with fists of randagulf, helm of oryn bearclaw being heavy).

I played an Imperialised Dunmer. Imperial name, initially did the Imperial Cult and Mages Guild, but as the plot progressed connected with her roots and became the Nevarine, joined House Telvanni etc.

I'm baffled that Assassins Creed 4: Black Flag was made, and Ubisoft didn't just pivot to make better and better pirate games. Or us all as a society generally.

Like I should be sailing my customized privateer interceptor around the Caribbean with my crew of lesbian love interests, while maxing out a pistols build that lets me shoot 6 times at the start of combat from 6 pistols hanging off my character.

Currently re-visiting Fallout 4 and reflecting on Skyrim, it's kind of weird how much work goes into them, to then make their stories terrible and have other problems.

I think about how when I played Skyrim without fast travel I really appreciated the way the land rises and falls and there's clear changes of biomes, with travelers on the road and inns about a days walk in between towns. Then you can just fast travel wherever ignoring that.

In Fallout 4 provisioners don't walk in a straight line from Settlement to Settlement, they tack cross country to the nearest road and then follow that as close to the settlement they can then again go cross country. It's such a nice realistic touch that 99% of players will never see.

It was cheating when they re-used the Morrowind and Soltheism themes in the Dragonborn expansion.

The best description of Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim I've heard is:

Morrowind is a book (with fantastic illustrations). There's a lot of reading. There's a lot of filling in the gaps with your imagination (combat). This can make it harder to get into, but when you do it's a deeper experience and timeless.

Oblivion is a community theatre production. It's kind of a hot mess and the acting is terrible. But you can still feel the love it's creators put into it, and it's charming in weird ways you'll remember forever. But you don't want every experience to be like this.

Skyrim is a blockbuster movie. It's initially really fun and climatic, but the more you revisit you see the plot holes, the limitations of production, the recycled tropes etc.

I'm sick with a virus and I had a fever dream last night that Glen Howerton came out of the closet and transitioned publicly. They then did the same thing for her Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia character. Then somehow toxic lesbian Denise Reynolds healed a huge amount of transphobia.

This morning, I was musing over plotlines that could happen as a result

-Charlie is just head empty himbo accepting of all forms of transgender expression.

-Sweet Dee is tolerant initially but then gets upset that men find Denise more attractive than her.

-Frank doesn't understand what's going but wants Sweet Dee to transition to a man to balance things.

-Mac is more concerned that Denise is gay (despite being gay himself), also all sexual tension between them immediately evaporates (Much to Denise's distress she can't manipulate Mac that way).

Specifically going to Hawaii and doing things that fund the largely Non-Hawaiian owned tourist industry which drives out locals and also does untold ecological damage. For example if you were friends with Hawaiians and they invite you to visit them/stay with them that’s probably fine.

No it’s the racism. The c-word thing is a basically meme.
