We are doing our kindergarten preparations now as our oldest will be going in the fall. I have to say, the way school schedules work I have a tremendous amount of respect for single parents, I can’t imagine how hard that has to be to manage. Doing it with two parents who work isn’t easy either, but at least we have somewhat offsetting schedules.
Not looking forward to the 4th of July this year. Not that I ever do, really, but this year it feels even more like a gut punch with my country doing even more exceptionally evil stuff. I’ve talked to my kids in age appropriate ways about why I don’t celebrate or wear red white and blue on that day. I think they are starting to get it (my wife and I have our political disagreements, but we are united on our position that America is bad to the rest of the world, even if she isn’t exactly a Maoist Third Worldist or anything).
The thing is, you have so many options with tattoos - you could do a name, initials, a symbol. Even if it was a good photo of her, I really do not understand the logic here.
I believe there are ways that censoring faces like this can be removed, I’m not 100% sure in that but I would echo what sisatici said out of an abundance of caution.
People tend to put aside differences when they are invaded. I will never forget that guy in Iraq who had his family murdered by Saddam, but he said he still preferred him over the Americans.
I am extremely doubtful China won't supply necessary materials to fascism at that point

Through the last few days, my heart has been hardened toward Ukraine. Yes, I by and large agree with the Hexbear line on the SMO. But I guess I felt a bit more empathy towards Ukraine. In the early days, before NATO got involved, was more inclined to see it as a tragic situation where the time to resolve it was in 2014. It’s important for NATO to lose, but I felt bad it was the Ukrainian people who are suffering the most.
Now, fuck it, you lay down with dogs you get fleas. I want to see NATO/USA/EU eat shit so badly now, anyone who associates with them can eat that shit too. In a just world it would be the NATO countries suffering more than Ukraine but this world isn’t just so I will take what I can get. I hope the SMO is a lesson to Taiwan, the Republic of Samsung, etc… you might not be in the NATO club but you’ll get what they get too when the time comes.
Since I’m a westerner, I’m reluctant to criticize a lot of China’s foreign policy actions as it feels … chauvinistic? I guess that’s the right word? Not that they are entirely beyond reproach, but I also realize it’s not China’s job to clean up the mess my country makes. China makes the moves it feels are in its best interest, and at the end of the day that is China’s prerogative.
On the other hand, very few people here are asking China to drop a few divisions of the PLA into Gaza and start blasting away. Usually hoping China would “do more” just takes the form of economic pressure (and frankly, fairly light pressure at that i.e. stop trading with Israel until there is a real ceasefire in Gaza). Not only does China have tremendous economic power it can wield, frankly I don’t think wielding that power would ultimately change the US/China dynamic all that much if at all.
I am just speculating, but I don’t think the wackadoo Christian Zionists have a lot of influence at the Presidential or NSC level. I think there are basically three types of Zionists in the US:
-Evangelical Christian Zionists, the weirdos
-Jewish Zionists, the true believers
-Largely irreligious deep state ghouls who totally understand Israel’s role in US imperialism, and love them for that
It’s that third group that I think occupies the halls of power in DC.
The ones I have been around are cranky and temperamental but just as lovable nonetheless
I heard “analysts” on TV all afternoon talk about how the US needs to use “bunker busters” dropped from B-2s on Fordow and destroy it. But isn’t Fordow like, 800 meters down? And even if it’s half that, even dropping a Tsar Bomba on top will just rattle the teacups down there?
I am of the opinion that people at the highest echelons of power in the west are not actually geniuses who have carefully studied Marxism and materialism and have an accurate understanding of reality. They by and large believe their own bullshit. I don’t doubt that if the west ever came after the DPRK, they would definitely attempt to assassinate Kim and would genuinely believe that would unravel the DPRK government.
