I'd like to begin by saying I'm no linguist. However, I've come to notice that memes and expressions are pretty similar.

  • Expressions are sentences (or sometimes just words) that are repeated, with their own meaning and backstory.

  • Internet memes can be an image, a sentence or a behaviour that is spread through the internet.

I know it can easily be explained by the fact that cultures spread, but it's more the repetitive nature of both that got me curious. Are they related in some way?

Feeling sad about not being able to do much (lemmy.ml)
 

I was able to do a bunch of things before. Draw, make music, program. But I feel like the pain really got to me and I just lay in my bed. I want to draw, but I'm so tired of it hurting. I'm doing everything I like less frequently, and I'm scared of not being able to do them anymore. I'm scared of not being able to even attend class anymore, or go outside and play with my friend

There is a cure for my illness I know it, but they just won't give it to me because I'm too young, and my parents probably want me to have children. I feel like they would rather see me whirl in pain. I hate it so bad.

I don't know where to post this, but apparently I got banned from lemmy.blahaj.zone for being a truscum (lemmy.ml)
 

First and foremost: I am not a truscum, transmedicalist, whatever. I believe every trans person should have access to medical aid they need (HRT, surgery, etc.). I believe in xenogenders and use neopronouns for people who use them. I myself am agender.

Apparently I was banned 9 months ago. I never made a truscum comment. I just realized that my comments weren't passed on, and didn't federate. I feel a bit sad of being disconnected from a part of the community on the fediverse.

I decided to make a post announcing the instance, but I got like 500 downvotes and 200 comments. One of them was Dessalines saying something like: "What the hell are you doing?" and people were just being mean, saying I did it all wrong and I should never touch a computer again. I got confused at the overreaction 😅
