I understand that, and I agree. We do need Dems in Congress that will always push for progressive legislation and fight back against conservative nonsense. The issue is, there’s a vast amount of people in this country that want to do the opposite, and in most cases, we’re outnumbered in that regard. You have to VOTE, we have to WIN! Even a moderate Democrat can be pushed towards progressive reform. A conservative Republican will never.

Biden’s BBB was 2 votes away from becoming a reality, unfortunately, it failed. But 10 years prior to that in 2011, it might’ve been 6-9 votes away. WERE MAKING PROGRESS. But everytime republicans gain control, our progress is put on hold or reversed. We can’t allow them to keep winnning.

Leftist being nice to the right is always a sight to see

You guys are so delusional. You could replace every sitting Dem in congress right now with your hand picked candidates, and literally NOTHING would be different. How many times does this need to be said, YOU NEED 60 VOTES IN THE SENATE! Without 60 votes, you’re not getting transformative change. You can thank your red state voters for that.

Yeah that’s true, let the chaos begin then

[–] BadmanDan@lemmy.world 2 points 6 days ago (2 children)

That’s a lot of work when we could just get 60 senators to stop being pricks

Trump gonna Trump 🙃

The next president is absolutely f*****

A function economy 😂. Jk

But being realistic to your answer, it’s possible to be done, but everyone involved would have to be in on it, assuming you wanna get away with it. The US has extremely strict and aware water safety protocols. It would take just 1 whistleblower to takedown this operation.

No, none of this is possible because it violates supremacy law in every way imaginable (unfortunately). Even if the states withheld or delayed payments, the courts will almost always side with the federal government when it comes to taxes, even if said federal government is LITERALLY trying to do the same to the states.

We’d need rogue courts too

This is an economic nightmare

What is wrong with the state of this app? I ask simple questions, and you guys somehow get offended by them? What in the world is wrong with you people!?

If so? Please elaborate.

If not, what would he do different?

I guess Latino men are fighting harder for that model minority status these days than Asian men

Also, wtf was Bush doing during her time in Congress?

I hear a lot that people say the US Democratic Party would be right wing in Europe. But I see a lot of Europeans online say that their (left) parties are corrupt and right wing. What am I missing?

Obviously Republicans control the Executive & Legislative branches right now, and can afford to sacrifice some of their agenda to filibuster. But it’s obvious now that the Trump admin has no issue committing crimes and violating the constitution almost every week.

Are the courts the only thing that can stop them right now? A military coup isn’t happening without direct threats to us. And the GOP is to far up Trump’s ass to impeach and convict him. So that only leaves the courts, do you think the courts are being purposely overwhelmed to slow down their action against MAGA?

Playboi Carti’s latest album features a song engineered by a popular AI music creator who has used famous artist’s voice to make songs. Kanye was accused of the same in his latest albums.

I’ve seen comments saying artist should be able to use AI for their own voice because producers don’t actually play the instruments used for songs.

IMO, I disagree seeing as producers are still making the actual song and contributing a large portion to it. An artist using AI, even if it’s their own voice (which they own). Means they’re contributing absolutely nothing to the song other than their written verse. Even worse if they didn’t write it themselves.

Your thoughts?

I remember the Hilary PUMA voters protesting Obama’s victory in 2008, but I don’t remember them saying it was rigged.

We’re years removed from 2016 and 2020, and yet both the far left and far right are accusing democrats of rigging elections. NOBODY cares about who dropped out and endorsed someone, or the media wanting one candidate over the other, or Dominion Voting Machines, or the fallacy that illegals are voting. It’s getting ridiculous, the people who vote are ADULTS who can think for themselves.

If anything, you could make an argument that the system was rigged against Hillary, she got more votes than Bernie, then went onto the general and got more votes than Trump, and didn’t become president. If this was vice versa, you’d never hear the end of it from the Bernie or Trump cults online.

THIS IS NOT A TROLL. I’d like a deeper dive into this as a black man.

For context, I’ve voted Democratic my entire life, same with my family & most of my friends, including most of my white friends. We tend to agree on the obvious issues in American politics like lobbyist & foreign affairs. But we continue to vote Democratic because we see it as the best way forward for progress compared to the GOP.

But my question is why are white people specifically so strong for the GOP? It seems like no matter which election you look at post civil rights, the GOP either comfortably wins the white vote, or narrowly wins it. Despite issues like the war on drugs, early 90s recession, war on terror, mortgage crisis, Trump’s abysmal response to COVID, cuts to Social Secuirty, Tax Cuts for the Rich, etc. It seems like the white electorate always backs Republicans in big numbers. No matter what.

You could say the same for black people and the Democratic Party, but we are a far smaller voting base that can’t really decide elections outside of a state like Georgia (I live in Chicago). But also, the Dems aren’t perfect, I don’t expect any political party to be, but their track record and policy positions work much better for the common man to me.

Obviously there’s a large contingent of white voters who greatly represent the progressive movements on the left more than any other group, but they’re vastly outnumbered by their Republican counterparts. And Trump did worse with white women in 2024 more than any Republican has post-civil rights.

TLDR; Why does it seem like no matter what Republicans do, white voters who always give them a large amount of support? If Dems held policy positions and had the rhetoric of the modern day Republican Party, I doubt black people would support them.
