I setup a dedicated account called family that is only used for the TV. I don't think there is a better option at the moment.

Yeah, same. I have a Roku account. It's not perfect, but it works.

Edit: There's gotta be a way to synchronize watched between accounts on the same server. I really need to get around to writing plugins.

The different accounts is primarily so that you can restrict which permissions and libraries a user has access to, as well as storing personalised playback progress.

There is the account switcher option, but we mostly watch things together so this works

does the account switcher not work? We have 3 people using the same TV (nvidia shield) and we switch accounts with no passwords needed (after the initial login) just like on netflix

I use kodi so it may not be a feature
