Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --

-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --

-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today/ . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --

-- Mass tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken markov chain bot will result in a comm ban--

-- Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.--

-- Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned. --

-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --

who's the director of policy over at reddit-logo again?

oh yeah, that's right

https://www.atlanticcouncil.org/expert/jessica-ashooh/

[–] [email protected] 64 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Ah yes the Atlantic Council, wasn't epstein on their board of directors or something like that?

[–] [email protected] 58 points 2 years ago

Atlantic Council is a documented CIA cutout, but I think Epstein was involved with the Council on Foreign Relations

It's been said a million times before here and I'm going to say it again:

Americans are the most propagandized people on earth

Listen I'm sure she's very impartial and-

“I know what it’s like to live under censorship,” [Ashooh] said. “My internal check, when I’m arguing for a restrictive policy on the site, is Do I sound like an Arab government? If so, maybe I should scale it back.” On the other hand, she said, “people hide behind the notion that there’s a bright line between ideology and action, but some ideologies are inherently more violent than others.”

Now that we have amassed "300,000" IDF troops on the border of Gaza, we are shutting off the cameras. Have a nice day.

[–] [email protected] 112 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Crazy, cause they didn't seem to mind the endless war porn during the Ukraine / Russia fight.

[–] [email protected] 52 points 2 years ago

Reddit admin is using the justification here that they don't allow footage from a "terrorist perspective". Laughable.

[–] [email protected] 49 points 2 years ago (2 children)

I’ve been watching videos of Russians getting their small intestines blown out for months, but god forbid you host a video from the perspective of Hamas. Spineless bullshit decision on the part of Reddit.

Wow I wonder why us-foreign-policy

[–] [email protected] 86 points 2 years ago (3 children)

whether they are combat related footage or not will no longer be allowed as per the Reddit Administration.

INCREDIBLE

Jessica Ashooh of the Atlantic Council will be making the final decisions

[–] [email protected] 21 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

You crazy leftists, just because someone who worked at a CIA front for years and has literally no social media experience became the head of a social media mod team, that doesn't mean she's a plant or anything

Reddit purging all of those left leaning subs (and inactive right wing ones to appear 'centrist'), allowing a lot of wildly derogatory stuff about Russia after the invasion (and China in general), and now facilitating reddit-logo becoming the IDF's #1 fan is all coincidence

[–] [email protected] 50 points 2 years ago

Wow it's even worse than in my post title

Reddit Administration

That sub should be shutdown yesterday

But until it is... how is Hamas not military?

[–] [email protected] 86 points 2 years ago

Because they don’t believe Palestine is a legitimate state

[–] [email protected] 60 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

cia spooks run reddit

no, seriously

[–] [email protected] 76 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Love reddit style activism, just shut down the bad thing done by the bad country. I'm sure not being able to share gore porn from Hamas is going to be the key to isn'treal's victory.

[–] [email protected] 73 points 2 years ago

the point isn't to help them do the genocide, it's to help them do the genocide with the cameras off

[–] [email protected] 70 points 2 years ago

I assume /r/NonCredibleDefense is shooting thick ropes about violence against "human animals" right now.

The message from admins to the sub mods:

[–] [email protected] 22 points 2 years ago (4 children)

What instance are you using? Libreddit doesn't work for me

[–] [email protected] 46 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Libreddit

This is one of those redundant phrases like ATM Machine.

[–] [email protected] 22 points 2 years ago

Libreddit is a third-party web interface for Reddit. Basically serves the same purpose as Nitter for Twitter.

[–] [email protected] 20 points 2 years ago

Libreddit? Yeah it sure is

Not here to pick sides but I pick the apartheid side

[–] [email protected] 54 points 2 years ago (3 children)

Surprised the comments were against this until they started saying why

Hamas openly and gleefully shows off what best could be called war crimes and at worst genocide in their videos. By suppressing these videos that is going to give more people a sanitized view of what is going on.

Reason: "not to glorify any terrorist group." This is a slippery slope. Plenty think Israelis are the terrorists. How is anyone supposed to be enlightened to the nature of the actual terrorists, Hamas, when what they are doing is censored? It's almost as if the Admin are Hamas apologists and only want the scenes produced by the Israeli forces to be seen. Great way to bias.

[–] [email protected] 49 points 2 years ago (5 children)

They really are going to use "Genocide" for any type of violent conflict.

[–] [email protected] 29 points 2 years ago

sorry sweaty if you're not white then fighting against ethnic cleansing is genocide now so-true

what the fuck i love the reddit admins now

[–] [email protected] 18 points 2 years ago

Whoever wrote that sentence should die painfully

Oh hamas is doing genocide are they? ARE THEY??

[–] [email protected] 51 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Maintaining the aura of Israeli invincibility is 100% key to that settler colonial project.

This makes perfect sense.

[–] [email protected] 40 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Also maintaining the aura of Israeli righteousness. By banning this they are basically claiming this footage is illegitimate or complicit with criminal activity.

I loooove one of the comment is like "I've seen footage of Russians collecting their intestines on here, but Palestinian footage is too much". Which has so much wrong with it.

I saw one video of a kid pulled out of the rubble of a Syrian building in Damascus wailing for their parents and I cried and had a nightmare days later. I haven't actively sought out combat footage in years.

[–] [email protected] 27 points 2 years ago

Disgusting.

[–] [email protected] 27 points 2 years ago

Well if you actually watch those yourself you might not do it right, or you might see videos where the dead were IDF. Better to just let people convince each other of what's in them instead.
