Someone who I recently reconnected with (and thought had some left leanings) said something along the lines of "both sides should be glassed." I tried talking with them about it before they said they're just tired of it all and emotionally drained. Maybe I was too nice because now I feel some regret for not telling them they're a fucking asshole.
It angers me that priveledged people get to just casually disassociate with a topic because something's too mentally taxing to imagine while people are currently living in it. Yeah there's not a lot you as an individual can do, but maybe the least you can muster is to understand it and not call for a both-sides genocide.
