I think the nyc mayoral primary will be telling. If Cuomo wins over Mamdami we're probably toast.
I wouldn't consider that to mean much. I think Mamdami is looking OK but this is national versus regional, and not even federal.
The current crop of Dems is maybe the worst we could possibly have. Like Schumer and Jefferies are the most worthless couple I've ever seen representing this country.
That's kinda my point. If dems can't get on board with progressives in a larger primary I don't see a good candidate being run in the general.
It's going to really be the last test case for the Democratic party I think. Because if once again it's proven that old Rich sexual predators run the party I think any semblance of popular support for that party is going to completely collapse. The people that have been holding their nose and voting for the supposed lesser of two evils for decades are going to just lose the will to carry on with this party.
There's this old military saying that the point of war is to destroy your enemies will to fight, everything really boils down to that. It's the same for politics. If there's just no will anymore it doesn't matter about anything else. If it's been shorn down to that degree it won't matter who the other option is people are just not going to bother voting. Hell I had someone tell me the other day that we still should vote to pick the lesser of two Nazis. Literal nazis, that's the point we're at. How do you even get yourself out of bed?
