Showerthoughts

A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. No politics
    • If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
    • A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.

God damn it, now I have to overtly say that "no, I don't want anyone touching my phone charger"

(The law is good, but this is just an unintended consequence of that 😓)

I just tell iphone users I don't respect them for their choices in life. It's not that hard.

while using your phone and charger "Sorry. I don't have a phone or charger."

[–] [email protected] 3 points 13 hours ago

Just say no. It's that easy.

Sounds kinda petty? Idgaf what other people use, if they need charge they can get charge.

You can say no without reason. You're overthinking this.

Has no one on EU thought about OPs social anxiety needs?

You can say "sorry, I don't have chargers for Apple stuff."

"Can I use your wall socke..."

"None of them are for Apple stuff, either, sorry."

You can still say no, ~~because it's not an iphone charger~~. You aren't required to and they aren't entitled.

I still do cause most iUsers I've encountered don't understand standards. Once one of them said " yeah but it's USB c? " to which I replied yes but the version for pixel phones. He didn't insist.

You could probably make a power supply that refuses to charge iPhones.

That's so mischievous, that would drive someone insane trying to troubleshoot the issue. That being said, I feel like we're above the idea of creating walled gardens.

“Oh thank you! I have an SE model!”

You can just say youre not comfortable lending a charger and instead take custody of their device to charge or own a really cool long cable which shows your intent to compromise even in the presence of boundaries others aren't prepared to understand.

Don’t give people a way to get around your boundaries. They'll just learn that there is a way to violate them, without repercussion and seek out more boundaries to push back.

Don't worry, Apple saved you here. While the plug is technically a USB C, it must be an Apple charger to properly charge their crap-phones. Anything "less" only allows very slow charging.

In my experience this isn't true at all but could b a good excuse if you need one

In my experience I have more iPhone chargers stolen from me than anything else. iPhone users are cheap, can't even be bothered to change to non-default ringtones because they cost money 🤣
