Trump’s FAA pick has claimed ‘commercial’ pilot license he doesn’t have. Bryan Bedford, the nominee to head the Federal Aviation Administration, for years erroneously stated in his Republic Airways bio that he is a pilot with a “commercial” rating.

That’s an awful lot of words to say: “Bryan Bedford, the nominee to head the Federal Aviation Administration, lied for years about having a commercial pilots license.”

He lied. It’s clear. Call it lying.

Isnt lying a requirement to work in this administration?

Yes. That and an oath to the oaf. But you’d better pinky swear on that part so they can be sure.

I can only imagine the top level posting George Santos will get from trump once he pardons him.

Santos would make a perfect Secretary of State, not only is he a former Congressman but he is also heir to the Swedish Throne. He was also the only member of the College of Cardinals to vote for Trump as Pope, so he has that going for him.

When asked about possible questions on Bedford’s biography after Wednesday’s hearing, Sen. Andy Kim (D-N.J.) told a reporter he’d “heard about that” and that his team “did flag that.”

“We are doing just sort of an extensive look, not just at his policies, but just sort of his background as well,” he said.

Wow. What confident phrasing. Thanks so much for that hardline effort, you spineless muppet.

*just sort of hardline effort

I’m not really sure what the point would be. You get limited time to question a candidate. Saying “did you know whoever wrote your bio on your company’s website listed the wrong flight license for you?” is not an effective line of questioning. Instead, they asked about flight safety, among other more important topics.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 days ago

I have to agree. Especially if someone else wrote it and assumed that he had a commercial rating if he already had both instrument and multi. It's still wrong and he should have either not lied or read the bio someone else wrote and corrected it.

Everybody shut up and let this guy fly air force one for a bit to prove he can

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I mean, I’m pretty sure you can fly at night using VFR. I’m not sure why they made that comment about night flying and IFR. It’s probably better practice to file IFR, but it’s not required.

But yes, I only found one Bryan Bedford and there is no commercial cert.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Reading this story, knowing almost nothing about this guy, it sounds like he went and got his license just to try to put the screws to actual pilots, maybe pilots in a union?

And then he lied about the level of licensure he obtained?

This is classic business person shit and any pilot, it seems to me, should be fucking worried that a guy like that would be running the FAA.

At least, that's my non-pilot layman's take. Am I way off?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 days ago

It seems like a weird one to lie about because the Commercial is not terribly difficult compared to the Instrument rating, just a few extra maneuvers and tighter tolerances. That said, most people don't know what it means if you say "I'm a private pilot and have my instrument rating" so I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't fly enough to care so lies about this in everyday life.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I’m also a layman - I didn’t finish training to become a private pilot.

Thinking about this, it IS possible that he held a commercial certificate and it got revoked because his DPE was caught doing something shady and the FAA invalidated all certa issued by the DPE, pending a new checkride. It’s happened before.

I’m not sure how it would show up in the website though.

I remember something regarding shady examiners, but I assumed the FAA got those people rechecked with priority since, as I recall, it affected a lot of working commercial pilots.

I would also assume they would have offered that explanation rather than scrubbing the internet.

I think that explanation is probably unlikely here.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 days ago

Well, he could also not be flying anymore so never retook his checkride.

All that’s to say, it may be a possibility. I’m unable to offer insight on the likelihood of it being fact.

Don't worry everyone he is just using the Fielder Method to rehearse for having a commercial pilots license.
