Overview:

Electric Vehicles are a key part of our tomorrow and how we get there. If we can get all the fossil fuel vehicles off our roads, out of our seas and out of our skies, we'll have a much better environment. This community is where we discuss the various different vehicles and news stories regarding electric transportation.

Well, KIA/Hyundai were ranked some of the worst offenders as far as vehicle data-harvesting (they all do it, these were just some of the worst). Also, I don't ever see any older Kias/Hyundais on the road and even though that's not hard evidence, that says to me that they're poorly made.

And it sucks because they have the more affordable EV options out there.

Maybe this is why they have more affordable options.

Kias and Hyundais were poorly made in the 2000s and they had to work hard to rebound from that. They started building better cars in 2014+ and now they’re fantastic.

You’re right about the data harvesting. We need regulation badly.

That was until people realized they didn’t install immobilizers on their pre-2022 vehicles (at least in the US) and the kiaboyz trend happened, then their reputation nosedived again. Not saying their EVs are bad though, they seem to be designed well. But yes, the data harvesting is horrendous.

Anecdotally I see a lot of Kia and Hyundai EVs around (US NE), and CleanTechnica's sales numbers seem to back up them being near the top.

That’s very good to know, I’ve never heard that they were particularly bad for that.

FWIW I love my 2019 Kia Soul EV (though that’s not that old). I had just one issue with it and the part was under warranty. Otherwise it drives and performs great for my needs.

Hmm I wonder why it charges so slow.
