as someone who's written about protests like this

That's gotta be the weakest way to claim that your opinion should be listened to. Anyone can write about protests. The fuck has this guy ever done except be annoying on social media and defend democrats

[–] [email protected] 19 points 1 month ago

He's an insufferable lib who is a history professor at Princeton. He loves to say stuff like "I am very busy blocking people today." or "If you say __________ - I will of course block you." Gee, I dunno... Maybe the reason people dislike you (or hate you) is that you're wrong and you're a huge asshole?

Does your diary count?

Dear diary, today I got big mad because some people somewhere tried to change something by actually doing something. Also, I sent Ann coulter a note that asked if she liked me. I really hope she circles "yes"

Protestors can wave whatever they want

Okay, shut the fuck up then

[–] [email protected] 40 points 1 month ago (1 children)

maybe-later-honey Look, there's no need to be unreasonable...Just wear the special Stars and Stripes and you'll receive better treatment from the paramilitary thugs as they round you up for concentration camps!

[–] [email protected] 28 points 1 month ago

Look, people might not like to hear this but being a kapo guarantees citizenship.

"Ignore all those Israeli flags that their own politicians raise and fly in their offices" - That same asshole and all the lame-o liberals on bluesky.

[–] [email protected] 21 points 1 month ago

That guy in Denver can claim he thought he was fighting an occupying force.

[–] [email protected] 32 points 1 month ago (1 children)

US troops should not be shooting at one of our closest and longest allies, actually. Libs being so hostile towards Mexico is really telling.

Libs being so hostile towards Mexico is really telling.

If some shitlib with ~25K followers was the OP - I'd feel some combination of anger, depression, and if I'm being honest - surprise at their mask slipping that much. But with my alt "fuck you" account - I'd tell them to fuck themselves and go on with my day. What else can you do? This feels different to me. Maybe I'm naïve but I didn't expect this sort of behavior from somebody like Kruse who has 100,000s of followers. He's surely in the top 100 accounts. Also - he's an ivy league turbolib history professor with a reputation to uphold.

When I made my new Bluesky "low key I'll talk to libs" account - I must have blocked 90+% of the accounts listed. I decided to not block Kruse because I hoped he'd give me "hopelessly lib" cringe c/slop content. I was pretty sure he would. I did not at all expect hatred and veiled racism.

I'll keep this in mind the next time I see a color revolutionary waving an AmeriKKKan flag outside the US.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 1 month ago

It's a rare but fun occasion when we get to reply with "Tiananmen Square".

[–] [email protected] 28 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

"the police and the military will attack you if they think you're a foreigner".

Really just saying it now, aren't we?

[–] [email protected] 27 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Everyone wants to feel like they’re involved in the decision making process until it comes time to actually do the thing required to get a seat at the table: attend a fucking a protest. Organizers decide. Internet nobodies don’t.

[–] [email protected] 22 points 1 month ago (4 children)

Also, everyone needs to have a "take" go-ahead everyone feels like they have to stake their claim even from a thousand miles away and with no power over the situation. People can't just observe and learn.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Yes this is a major problem with socialist organizing in the west. Nobody wants to follow a party line, nobody wants to educate themselves and act in a disciplined manner, it’s like herding cats if all the cats thought they had come up with the perfect form of socialism that has never been tried before

We are a bunch of rugged individualists after all

Liberals never learn, they are only capable of being smugly condescending and quickly turning into fascists once the other side doesnt resist "correctly"

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 month ago

It will be interesting now that the chips are down. This isn't BLM in the Biden administration

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 month ago

go ahead. post another "take". tell me that eating hot dogs is ableist. say jackbox games doesnt center bipoc voices. accuse a famous person of grooming their younger spouse. come up with a woke way to say race mixing is wrong. call me gay for liking dessert.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 month ago

Obligatory take culture

[–] [email protected] 26 points 1 month ago

So it's okay for American troops to shoot American citizens if they're waving another nation's flag, is that what you're saying Kevin?

[–] [email protected] 26 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Kevin M. Kruse

Kevin Michael Kruse (born 1972) is an American historian and a professor of history at Princeton University.

He punches left. Because of course he does.

I think one of two things happens.

  1. He deletes the post, makes a (non-)apology, and then starts insincerely posting positively about peaceful protestors and the vital necessity of peaceful protesting and as the great MLK Jr. said we must...

  2. He doubles down.

He's a gigantic, insufferable lib asshole but #1 is far better for him financially. He doesn't want to damage his rep, lose appearances on tv, or damage book sales, etc. I think #1 starts today. But #2 is better. It's so much funnier. I hope he's such an asshole he can't help but doubling down.

Update: He deleted it.

Quick, everyone wave a Confederate flag so the cops calm down.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 month ago (2 children)

I actually think giving out a shitload of Union army battle standards for these things would be pretty sick.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

It's a good look

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago

I don't know anything about Union flags and I didn't like the most common ones. For some reason I really like the shape of the swallow tail flags. I wonder why. I'm not a flag guy.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 1 month ago

As we know, racism is very logical and will immediately stop if we just cooperate with them and stop waving foreign flags! /j

[–] [email protected] 15 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Like most tweets from liberals, it's pretty decent right up until the "but"

I thought their new strategy was to stop moralizing everything? Must be a hard habit to break

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 month ago

It really is a hell of a post. He squeezed so much in it.

  • as someone

  • politely

  • racist claims

  • "foreign army"

  • maybe *don't*

  • foreign country's flag

  • square off

  • against US troops

Foreign army: It seems strange to me he used more words and said "army from a foreign country". It's phrasing a non-native speaker might use. I suspect he has messaging brain. Maybe he actually thinks "army from a foreign country" is better messaging because it sounds softer or something.
