The funniest part about the osha-offical Tumblr account is that they got banned because it turned out they had nothing to do with OSHA and were just really passionate about workplace safety.

Workplace safety standards actually make sense rule.

We also can't see its feet, so there's no proof that it isn't wearing proper workbooks

Remember, squirrels are just rats with good PR.

*Rodents

Same order as rats, but different suborders/families

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

And this is the PR he was talking about

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Bees, wasps, and ants are the same order - Hymenoptera.

We are in the same order as lemurs.

This is exactly what I am trying to explain to my wife when she calls a wasp a bumblebee in front of our daughter.

Apes are monkeys no matter shat they say in the planet of the apes remake because apes are a subgroup of monkeys, and whales are fish because fish doesn't mean anything, and bamboo is wood because wood doesn't mean anything. And a banana is not a tree, but I'd really like to taste a banana flower I heard it's good

then why isn't my attic full of squirrels?

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The photo could be misleading. Are you sure the ~~squirr~~ employee isn’t stationed underneath an oak tree? Surely falling hazards exist under the old oak tree.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago

That's not 100 yellow ribbons, it's hazard tape, stay on the bus.

So where's his fall protection harness as per Standard 28 CFR 1910.28(b)?

[–] [email protected] 19 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Squirrels can fall from any height without hurting themselves.

That standard is only for mammals of above 0.5Kg.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 week ago

Less than lethal terminal velocity...

Technically given that this seems to be a squirrel and they basically don't take fall damage I'd argue that they aren't required to wear one as they'd never be actually at risk of injury from a fall.

I'd actually think there's a pretty strong argument that getting caught from a fall by a harness would be more dangerous to them than being allowed to fall freely in almost all circumstances as long as the work space is clear of hazards they could fall onto.

I wish I would have you on site if Osha showed up..

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

So... Do they pay the squirrel? What's it's salary?

[–] [email protected] 16 points 1 week ago

Works for peanuts.

[–] Taser 6 points 1 week ago

This is why I'm still on the Internet. Thank you, Stamets.

Something about someone breaking down OSHA rules to talk about why a squirrel should use a high visibility vest is very funny to me.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 week ago

It's extremely funny. It was an extremely long running bit, and their other posts were similarly detailed and accurate. IIRC, they ended up having to change their blog name because OSHA threatened them with legal action for impersonating an OSHA official. Tragic end to the story, but it was fun while it lasted.

This is, obviously, a Hair Tailed Rat.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 week ago

Bushy tailed tree rat.

[off topic]

For a while, John Cena's wrestling persona was a soldier. WWE was selling camo T-shirt with a bright orange "You Can't See This!"

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago

Good thing they censored out @tehnakki's username
