My uncle-in-law “busted his knee” chasing a perp like a few years into being a cop back in the 80’s and has been on police disability since. Doesn’t stop him from making side money painting houses, oddly enough.
Imagine doing that on SSD. The fucking second your bank account got too high they’d take away your benefits
They'd take away your benefits solely because you're able to paint a house. "Well, it looks like you've found a full-time profession. Back to work, wagie!"
I'm kinda torn here. Like I kind of follow the opinion that insurance fraud is good and people should do it when they can. But also

Found the one good cop. Kinda not joking. This is not the behavior of a person that is doing okay. He may have actually realized what the police are and realized he had no hope of making a normal life work and shot his shot.
He didn't have to scapegoat an imaginary person of color but I guess you're right.
He could've gotten an innocent person killed because of his antics. This ain't it.
He did shoot a cop and try to defraud a police department so maybe I am letting that cloud my judgment
Valid critique. In cop logic that is basically the same as act of God. So I don't think that could have actually harmed anyone the cops didn't already plan to harm though
