I don't really see anything wrong with this. Nobody likes screaming into the void.

We are carbon based lifeforms on a rock with water, drifting trough space, we all scream into the void.

I don't do karma anymore, I have abandoned my 145k.

I sort by new comments or new to try and find something I didn't already read 3 days ago. Incoming quality content here is sloooow. Not enough people on Lemmy yet to make every page load full of freshly new interesting content... unless it's memes you want. But even back in the old reddit days, often could find enough fresh stuff to read.

I noticed that since lemmy is still fairy small that comments can actually go a long way in bumping some stuff up in the hot and active sortings.

Pro tip: if you use the Voyager app, it shows your total points for comments and posts on your profile page.

I’ve been on wefwef since I migrated, but if the famous The_Picard_Maneuver reccomends Voyager I’ll have to try it just to see if Neelix does the cooking

One of the rare cases where a Picard prefers a Voyager over an Enterprise (i.e a wefwef)

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 years ago

I really like it and Liftoff.

Voyager is super customizable, which is nice. A couple of drawbacks for me are that you can't see the names of posters while viewing /All (only within a community), and I'm not a fan of gestures to do stuff, so I have to hit the menu button to reply.

Liftoff does both of these things. I just downloaded Voyager last week though, so it still feels shiny and new to me.

Voyager is just what Wefwef was renamed to.

I have yet to find an (iOS) app that doesn’t show comment points.

I thought Lemmy was gonna trash the reddit-style karma.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 years ago

It basically has. The points are useless, but even seeing useless numbers go up can encourage engagement for some people.

When reddit started out, they knew it would get their users commenting and posting more.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 years ago

Also Eternity

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago

It works fine on android, thx.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Points? I had to look after seeing this and my profile said I hadn't posted anything. Nothing is ever there, I never post so yeah.

Today I learned there's a comments made record. Not bad. So this is the karma of Lemmy.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 years ago

Some apps like infinity for Reddit always showed post and comment karma/points difference. Eternity has the same feature and it is more common on a lot of other lemmy apps.

Anyone know why I can't post photos anymore? It always say image too large now. Even ones I e posted before

[–] ArmokGoB 3 points 2 years ago

The admins on a lot of instances disabled the ability to upload images indefinitely.
