It better involve real jail time; that slimeball is the worst kind of conman.

I mean, I can think of at least one worse.
I didn’t say he was the worst, I said he was the worst kind. ;)
Well, a seditious con-man is a worse kind. But I guess we don’t know if Georgie would have gone there yet.
I'm interested in whether McCarthy is going to pull out his back moving the goal posts on expulsion if there is a guilty plea. He's been sticking with "we'll deal with it if there's a conviction" so far, and I'd imagine he was planning to switch that to "we'll wait until the appeals are exhausted" after that. If Santos straight up admits the crimes by pleaing guilty, then where do you go? He already can only lose 3 votes in the house, is he going to expell Santos and go down to a 2 vote margin? With government funding about to shutdown if they can't pass a continuing resolution by the end of the month? Good luck fucker, you deserve the shit stew your swimming in.
This is not a smart guy, he isn't thinking ahead. All his actions point to having a singular goal: be speaker of the house for as long as possible. Nothing else. He just reacts and does whatever he thinks will prolong his tenure at that moment.
Not sure what Santos has to bargin with for some sort of plea deal.
I'm hoping it's a list of the people who taught him the ropes, whether they be donors or other elected officials.
The thing with crime families like the GOP is that once you crack one, others become available. It can be an avalanche.
I think they've controlled enough for long enough that they've been able to avoid those cracks. But the system is at a breaking point across the board, so I don't think the gravy train will last.
He can say he will resign as part of the deal. Removes the issue of whether or not the Republicans have to kick him out so there may be pressure from all sides to include that, and if Republicans are saying they would kick him out regardless then there's nothing to lose.
But I imagine there's a good amount of discussion on how much that buys him since it's a pretty rare situation.
resignation. period.
