Hey folks, it's getting cold, worried about folks in my area.

Would y'all prefer a care package with socks, wet wipes, a lighter, some candy and clif bars, or would you prefer the equivalent in cash? I figure some things are probably hard to get to shops to purchase, but I wanted to ask folks who have been there and know what's most helpful.

If you would prefer a care package, what are some important essentials that you'd want to have in it?

i co-founded a tiny org that did essentially this

our packages contained (off the top of my head):

  • clothes (usually from a charity shop, two birds stoned at once)
  • wet wipes or soap
  • pack of socks
  • matches
  • sometimes a little hexamine stove (like they put in ration packs here) when we could get them cheap
  • for smokers a pouch of tobacco (bought from a guy that smuggled it from the continent, cheaper when there's no tax on it lol), rolling papers, and filters
  • some food, usually stuff we cooked ourselves
