There were so many unique languages and cultures along the British Columbia coast, so many different ways of life, so many stories. All of them are lost forever.
I was recently scolded for screaming that the US national parks are the grave stones capping American genocide. apparently it's okay that we have park after park named after people who were exterminated or who are still forced to live on concentration camps because we "celebrate and preserve" them and because the NPS hires indigenous people.
