I made another post asking if I would be comfortable being obviously trans at the ren faire and it went better than I ever dreamed! A little boy asked me if I was a goddess and tons of people complimented meβ€”some eve in non-performative ways!

I felt amazing and really comfortable in my body in a way I almost never do when I'm in public (except when I'm a bit tipsy AND dancing).

You can! I know several people who are full timers wearing different eras.

Just gotta live in an appropriately bohemian area. Honestly if you wear early 1400s they'll just think you run the local crystals and magik shop.

Also natural fabrics help with the sweating a lot.

The fact that older style clothing enables an artificial silhouette that matches the beauty standards of the era can be a real comfort for a lot of people, cis and trans. We wrongly think of corsets and long skirts as instruments of oppression, rather than of expression and even sometimes liberation since these are the clothes that we control, that we wear, and that let us look the way we want..
