There is a cytube that you can paste videos into and watch with whoever happens to be around. It's open submission unless there's something important to commandeer it with at the time.

Just because it was taught in high school doesn't mean most ppl in the region care/remember about the opium wars other than it being a history lesson except for chinese nationalists in order to justify China's return to NEP-style capitalism(century of humiliation, amirite?)

On the local joint, there is some wiggle room with even Catholic bishops being OK for it in medical use, and a bill in 2014 proposing decriminalization. Unlikely to pass because of the sham drug war theater [(to justify the increased spending of police pensions and social control(eliminating the poor and any political dissident which they can frame as a drug user/pusher later, they even implemented a monthly quota system of drug users to be punished(killed, imprisoned or by other means ffs)] by Duterte, continued by Marcos Jr.
Of course South Korean media reference the opium wars. They reference Radio Free Asia too. So what? Just because media references something doesn't mean it's the baseline knowledge of people in the street. If the media references Foucalt in an OpEd does it mean everybody knows about the panopticon?
