I follow the #americana on Mastodon and there is a some pretty good recommendations for music that come from the hashtag. Is there any way to elegantly boost a Mastodon "toot" to a Lemmy community?

I don't believe so. However, if a Mastodon user @s a Lemmy community like @[email protected] in their post, it should get posted to that community, too. If Lemmy gets big enough then maybe Mastodon accounts will start adding tags like that alongside regular hashtags.
