Ye Power Trippin' Bastards

This is a community in the spirit of "Am I The Asshole" where people can post their own bans from lemmy or reddit or whatever and get some feedback from others whether the ban was justified or not.

Sometimes one just wants to be able to challenge the arguments some mod made and this could be the place for that.

Posting Guidelines

All posts should follow this basic structure:

  1. Which mods/admins were being Power Tripping Bastards?
  2. What sanction did they impose (e.g. community ban, instance ban, removed comment)?
  3. Provide a screenshot of the relevant modlog entry (don’t de-obfuscate mod names).
  4. Provide a screenshot and explanation of the cause of the sanction (e.g. the post/comment that was removed, or got you banned).
  5. Explain why you think its unfair and how you would like the situation to be remedied.

Rules

Expect to receive feedback about your posts, they might even be negative.

Make sure you follow this instance's code of conduct. In other words we won't allow bellyaching about being sanctioned for hate speech or bigotry.

YTPB matrix channel: For real-time discussions about bastards or to appeal mod actions in YPTB itself.

Apparently, bringing up China being authoritarian is now "bigotry". Makes sense now all those comments from .ml users that most people banned from .ml are for bigotry.

"Bigotry" = Anything negative about China or Russia now

For "Troll" even though I've been boycotting .ml for a while and haven't made a single post or comment anywhere on .ml lmao

Fairly certain it was over my post (https://lemmy.world/post/24123469) on my home instance community lol

Seems like he wants to redirect the community to Reddit? https://old.reddit.com/r/linuxsucks101/

Even though that piece of information can be verified by other credible sources (like NBC News). This is a news post they personally didn't like.

This is not the first time this particular mod, who has self-proclaimed to "hate biggotry" but seems to be more about "love censorship", has done something similar.

Apparently mods there don't understand that their own behaviour is mildly infuriating.

Fake vegans (sopuli.xyz)

Vegans being banned and comments being deleted from [email protected] for being fake vegans.

From my perspective, the comments were in no way insulting and just part of completely normal interaction. If this decision reflects the general opinion of the mod team, then from my perspective, the biggest vegan community on Lemmy wants to be an elitist cycle of hardcore vegans only, not allowing any slightly different opinion. Which would be very unfortunate.

PS: In contrast to the name of this community, I don't want to insult anyone here being a 'bastard'. I just want to post this somewhere on neutral ground. I would really appreciate an open discussion without bashing anyone.

PPS: Some instances or clients seem to compress the screenshots in a way they're unreadable. Find the full resolution here: https://imgur.com/a/8XdexTm

I honestly don't know what's going on there. The sole mod and contributor of the community keeps posting low quality shit purely to bash on Linux and people kept calling him out in the posts and getting banned from the comm for that.

Now I noticed the same mod has just locked comments on all posts to prevent having to ban anyone commenting on their memes

i just got censored on lemmyshitpost

im still trying to wrap my head around it i made this post about the true history of minion memes and it was actually really good i mean it was informative and it had some great points about how the elites are using minion memes to control our minds but the mods just removed it without even giving a real reason they just said lolwtf like what does that even mean are they trying to say my post was so good it blew their minds or something

because of unconventionally attractive butts

i think its just another case of power tripping mods who cant handle the truth they probably got a little too aroused by the minions butts and didnt know how to deal with it so they just removed the post its absurd can you believe it

well what do you think

is this just another example of the deep state trying to silence us or what take the poll below please right now and let me know what you think okay

I'm just baffled that i've been banned for this, I just wanted evidence that chinese elections are being rigged, and explained why that evidence was insufficient, and what evidence would be??

Context: https://lemmy.world/comment/14224519

I was just browsing some comments and came across this... exchange. In addition to "WTF is wrong with you" I also reported the comment for something like, 'this person is using the plain definition of genocide to discredit the idea of genocide. this person is clearly some kind of bigot/troll, or a deeply ignorant and unserious person. please keep a close eye on this person.' I think that's the reason why another mod responded with the genocide articles. All this before I realized they were a mod. Incidentally, this flyingsquid character is still sealioning that nobody answered them and that "the genocide is, as I said, not all that horrific." At least they put the words in their own mouth this time (downgraded from "you must not think it's all that horrific" -what the fuck!?).

When I checked my inbox this morning I found they had responded, but this time I noticed their name, and the M next to it.

So I ask you, in this context (or any, really), is "...good god, you're a mod here?" uncivil? I think the moderator is silencing legitimate criticism. I think it was the moderator being uncivil throughout. I think this flyingsquid character is a Power Tripping Bastard.

Edit: I also just got banned for apparently being a troll. Me. Not the person they believe to be a dragon though.

And apparently, also when you think that 'They' is a perfectly serviceable gender-neutral singular pronoun, but are willing to use other pronouns if asked to.

EDIT: Other removable offenses on Blahaj now include questioning mod/admin decisions and quoting the modlog as a reason why you're leaving.

Mod [email protected] posted a really creepy and pro-pedophilia post at https://lemmy.cafe/post/11105990

Mod immediately bans the two people that call it out as trolls.

Update: post is locked after two more bans

  1. Post in [email protected] attacks the entire concept of AI safety as a made-up boogeyman
  2. I disagree and am attacked from all sides for "posting like an evangelist"
  3. I give citations for things I thought would be obvious, such as that AI technology in general has been improving in capability compared to several years ago
  4. Instance ban, "promptfondling evangelist"

This one I'm not aggrieved about as much, it's just weird. It's reminiscent of the lemmy.ml type of echo chamber where everyone's convinced it's one way, because in a self-fulfilling prophecy, anyone who is not convinced gets yelled at and receives a ban.

Full context: https://ponder.cat/post/1030285 (Some of my replies were after the ban because I didn't PT Barnum carefully enough, so didn't realize.)

[email protected] mods once again proving their incapacity to host a space for “world” news.

Terminology citation

Under Canada's Westminster-style parliamentary democracy, the terms government and Government of Canada refer specifically to the prime minister, Cabinet, and other members of the governing party inside the House of Commons, but typically includes the federal public service and federal departments and agencies when used elsewhere.[7] This differs from the United States, where the executive branch is referred to as an administration and the federal government encompasses executive, legislative, and judicial powers, similar to the Canadian Crown.

Emphasis mine. In particular I note that capitalization is not a factor. The fact that Voroxpete didn’t specify “capital G Government” doesn’t make a difference as I originally thought when reading.

This guy is clearly snooping the downvoters as an instance admin and retaliating against them. Wouldn't even have noticed if I didn't stumble onto the modlog in Voyager by accident.

I might be of course wrong in my assumption. But I don't remember ever interacting with anyone from that instance, I'm not subscribed to those communities and the dates correlate.
