TransportNSW is NOT showing the truth. Platform has no timer for next train and a recorded voice announcement is blaming industrial action.

EDIT: From https://www.abc.net.au/news/2025-02-14/sydney-trains-delays-rail-tram-bus-union-industrial-action/104932704

The union advised that its industrial action — where trains are expected to run 23 kilometres an hour slower than usual — would now go ahead as planned, beginning just after midnight from Friday morning.

Sydney and NSW Trains notified workers they would dock their pay if they ran slower than the timetable.

EDIT:

Got out of it for today, WFH, but can't keep it up, will likely have to go back to the office tomorrow. My trip normally takes 1.5 hours, going to be interesting.

In short:

There could be further disruptions for Sydney rail commuters next week as protected industrial action continues.

The proposed work bans could cause a slow down of services and impact workers returning from the summer break.

What's next?

The industrial action will start on January 15 and initially last for three days, but could drag on if the stand-off is not resolved.

In short:

The Rail, Tram and Bus Union is expected to announce industrial action on Sydney's trains, after the NSW government lost a bid to ban the strikes.

NSW Transport Minister Jo Haylen says the government hasn't yet been notified by the union as to what specific industrial action will take place or when it will begin.

The NSW government has now lodged an application to the Fair Work Commission to limit the impact of industrial action.

Two weeks ago I was curious what was happening. Looks like they can't join overheads properly, awesome, I wonder how different their joining method is to the rest of our rail system.

Doesn't seem like the union has backed down at all, rather that they have been able to manoeuvre around the state government's plan to cause as much disruption as possible.

Last I heard there were nonspecific issues and it was going to open later this year. The official NSW gov page has nothing of interest.

Anyone know what's actually going on?

Commuters will get 24-hour trains in Sydney this weekend after the government caved to a union demand to stop potentially-crippling strikes.

New industrial action from 14 November (fightingforourfuture.com.au)
submitted 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago) by [email protected] to c/[email protected]

The below actions come into effect from 14 November and are indefinite:

  • A ban on performing any work unless trains run 24 hours a day on Thursday, Friday, Saturday nights
  • A gradual reduction in kilometres able to be worked by Train Crew on the suburban and intercity networks

The government has conceded to 24-hour services for now so there will be no strike: https://aussie.zone/post/15285174

Most of the Parramatta station turnstile gates have been turned off (no lights, fully open) and there was a staff member in union shirt near them. Some people were queuing next to the few working ones on the side (newer model, maybe they can't turn them off?).
