Every day, a half-dozen times a day. Always so cautious and easily startled, I love the fluffy little bugs 🐰🐰

I went dowmstairs to fill her food and water as usual, but she didn't eat. And when I pet her, she seemed to be falling asleep with her eyes closed. I got her out of her cage and tried giving her hay, but she didn't eat any until 15 minutes later. I'm relieved that she's eating now but she barely moves. She was completely fine yesterday. Has this ever happened to anyone?

edit: typo

follow up: she is doing better. she had an upset stomach because my dad fed her a carrot :/

For the curious. Obviously I cannot enforce anything but I would appreciate if we could move to [email protected]. If you want to continue posting here though, feel free, free internet and all that.

In reference to this post about merging [email protected] and [email protected].

I found this post I made awhile ago about potentially merging the communities. Now that I actually do mod [email protected], I figured I'd do as @[email protected] suggested a year ago and poll both communities about how they'd prefer to handle things:

  • Stay separate, do not merge
  • Merge: move Bunnies users to Rabbits
  • Merge: move Rabbits users to Bunnies
  • Merge: move users of both communities to a single new community

You can answer the poll anonymously at this link. It closes a week from now. I'll do what the poll says once it's over.

I notice that [email protected] is still active, while [email protected] seems to have much sparser activity, so full disclosure: I voted for moving [email protected] users to [email protected].

Hi! I have been directed to this community, which I was previously unaware of, by this comment. I'm a [email protected] user, not a mod, but seeing as our mod @[email protected] seems to have abandoned Lemmy and the Bunnies community I thought I might get the ball rolling on figuring out how to deal with there being two bunny communities. Do we want to merge, and if so how do we want to approach it? I see four options:

  • Stay separate, do not merge
  • Merge: move Bunnies users to Rabbits
  • Merge: move Rabbits users to Bunnies
  • Merge: move users of both communities to a single new community

Noticed right before going to bed that Blossom managed to break off her tooth near the root and it was just hanging horizontally out of her mouth, saber tooth rabbit style. Maybe partially due to the fact that her bottom incisor has been pulled out due to fractures about a month ago and is still regrowing. (Yes, the vet is a little exasperated at us.)

She's not sedated and getting X-rays. Thankfully vet could fit her in because non of the emergency clinics had a rabbit specialist available last night and I decided she didn't look in pain and was able to eat her greens and pellets so I waited 8 hours after noticing (11 hours after it would have happened) to take her in.

... I had checked over the enemy rabbits on the other side of the pen when I realized she'd gotten out of bedroom and had access and didn't think to check her over immediately.

Hello fellow rabbit people - has anyone else noticed that if they scratch on their bun's lower back that said bun starts grooming? It feels exactly like when a dog's hind paw starts shaking except she turns and grooms her shoulders. It's super strange. She doesn't seem to hate the scratches (above her tail, in a region she's always a little scruffy in because I don't know if she can reach as well back there in her old age). It's just the strangest thing and I don't know if it's a sign of something.

My 9 year old lop has had arthritis trouble for the past year or so, but he recently acquired what appears to be Floppy Bunny Syndrome and has had a difficult time standing up on his own. His usual vet is closed tomorrow and I need to get him into an exotics-capable vet that can administer fluids and help treat him. We're in the Dallas area, so any suggestions for a good (and hopefully affordable) vet nearby would be greatly appreciated.

Don't worry everyone, he's just flopping. They will never stop stealing food from each other.

The temperature in here gets higher than today regularly but it's normally really dry. Today has been very humid so I guess that must be why. Everyone needs to know the signs of overheating! Clover was visibly shaking and her ears were hot. We cooled her by turning on the AC and putting an ice pack on her. You could also touch the ice pack to their ears to help or spray their ears with a little mist of water then blow a fan on it to cool them down.

Finally got my bun the ikea doll bed. She likes... the treats I bribed her with to stand on it!
