I love my partner, his my best friend, my everything and I want to show him how much I appreciate him. At the moment, his job is super busy and he cannot take leave. His only free on the weekends. I was thinking of booking a hotel for us (Saturday and Sunday),1.5 hours away(hotel overlooking the beach),I booked us a seafood restaurant overlooking the beach (he loves seafood), the seafood restaurant is award winning but a bit on the expensive side but for him, I don't mind paying as it's one of the places that you go once. I want to do this so he knows that I appreciate everything he does for me and that he puts a smile on my face. Anyways, if your girlfriend did something like what I'm planning to do, how would you react?

Was having a discussion with a friend earlier and I mentioned how we went from building the first airplane to landing on the moon within 60 years and he asked me who is "we".

My country just recently landed a rover on the moon, I am definitely proud of that but is it stupid to feel proud about something that another nation did half a century ago?

I have seen a lot of bullies, rude ppl, and emotional abusers make it to the top of their games. People in my school who used to break rules became student council members, arrogant and bribe-taking employees got promoted earlier, and so on.

I was taught that good things come to those who do good and that God is bad to people who do bad. But it doesn't seem to apply irl.

Also, I cant get myself to get guaranteed success by doing bad things. No clue how this stuff works.

For context, I'm not ready to get married just yet but my partner recently mentioned about how she doesn't understand why people wouldn't want to have a wedding if they have the finances. Her family does pretty well financially so money isn't an obstacle and she was half-joking about wanting to have the biggest wedding in the world. I just nodded but the truth is... I really don't want to have a wedding and it's not for financial reasons.

I have bad social anxiety, which I've never talked about with anyone because it's embarrassing for me. The idea of having a wedding with a bunch of people looking at me and expecting things from me makes me really nervous. Stuff like taking photos with everyone, having to dance with everyone watching, etc are the epitome of everything I despise doing. I hate being the center of attention and if it were up to me, I wish I could just have a private ceremony for just me and my partner. I know communication is a big part of a healthy relationship but this is something I just feel uncomfortable talking about because I'm afraid it'll come across either like 1) I'm being cheap and making a lame excuse or 2) I'm a loser who can't socialize. She's also a very extroverted person and has a ton of friends who she wants to come to the (future) wedding so I'm scared she'll look at this as a deal-breaker in the relationship.

I hope I'm not the only one with this fear of weddings lol....

I know alot of people make fun of Joe Biden and call him old and weak, so I wonder what the actual response would look like if Joe Biden went on TV and legitimately benched someone good like 250.

I had a very brief conversation with this girl that I thought was very cute. However she seemed uninterested in me in my opinion and was very short with her answers. My question is; what are subtle body language and verbal cues that men might not notice that are indicative of girls not being interested?

Is it even possible? Or will things continue to get more expensive indefinitely

Or is there something that can realistically, feasibly happen that would lower housing prices?

With all of the controversy and evidence regarding Scientology, what it takes to leave, and how they basically own you once you join…what is the upside? Why are people interested in joining in the first place?

I’m excluding those who were “born into it” and am specifically speaking about those who seemingly voluntarily become Scientologists.

Sorry if this seems ignorant or judgmental, but from what I’ve researched, it seems glaringly obvious to not join the organization regardless if you believe in some of its principles because of the chokehold it has on you basically forever. I get it’s what most would consider a “cult” but I’d love to know what the “perks” are when it comes at such a steep price.

I don't know what the hell I am doing wrong...

Other people in my job position talk often about different things in their life. I have always asked myself how they can afford all the things they have and do. And then you hear them complaining in between "omg I need to get this fixed on the roof, that si going to cost me like 15k!" How the hell can they manage? I cannot afford buying my own house, I rent cheap. I barely go out, I never go shopping. The only thing I get to do are 2 vacations a year (backpacker low budget, no fancy hotels or so). I spend way less on what I hear than other people spend on holidays. I have no debts, but also cannot save up much.

How are other people doing this with the same budget? I just don't get it.

Like, there are no conspiracy theories about how big pharma wants to kill us all through paracetamol containing nano killer robots. The closest I've hard through medicine is that they keep the cure from cancer away because it's better to keep us sick, but that's still not quite the same as the theories that start surrounding vaccines.

Hi,

If someone were to, hypothetically, do a bad fart at a bad time in the wrong place… could they remove the odour by sniffing it all in before it reaches someone nearby?

Thanks.

im a FAT guy and ive noticed the switch when people talk about a fat person. it just sounds weird, like a teacher rewording the question because it gave away the answer.

edit: im not talking about clothes, im talking about those body positivity models promoting obesity

The way I see it, there are two possible directions that this scenario could take:

  1. I travel back in time to September 9, 2001 and it's my current mind in a child's body. I could attempt to get the attention of my parents or my elementary school principal, neither of whom would do anything but laugh at me.
  2. I travel back in time to September 9, 2001 and it's my current adult self. I could attempt to get the attention of my local police station or news channel, neither of whom would do anything but laugh at me.

Either way, it seems that if I were to invent a time machine and travel back 22 years, there's nothing I could actually do to prevent 9/11. Even if I somehow made it to the World Trade Center and pulled the fire alarms to evacuate the skyscrapers, that wouldn't stop any of the people on the four planes from dying. So how could an ordinary person convince the authorities to stop the hijackers from boarding the planes without any evidence? I feel like, even today, if I could predict a terrorist attack a few days into the future, there's nobody I could talk to who is powerful enough to do anything about it.

He has committed countless war crimes. He is invading a neigbour and murdering their citizens. Why is this not discussed? Why are there no outward discussions from world leaders around eliminating this aggressor? Throughout history, conflict is resolved by the murder of the head of the rogue state. What are the secret service, MI5, type units for if not for snipering this guys head off? Kill the guy. End the invasion. Why is it not that simple?

Inspired by another post here...I'm just curious about the reasons for not getting one. Like cold water, feels weird, etc.? No judgment...maybe TP works better for you than it did for me

Or a similar question: how many of you have *never* used one?

Im only 23 and do not look or behave like an alcoholic. It got really bad and I was close to taking my life at one point. Im sober and I havent drank any alcohol for about 3 months. Today im at a party with friends that i havent seen in over 4 years and Im very sure that they will expect me to drink alcohol.

How do I tell them that im a sober, recovering alcoholic without destroying the vibe?

Every time I’ve gone to the airport as an adult, I look around and get the sense that a lot of people really just don’t want to be there. That getting a flu shot would be more enjoyable. But when I ask my parents about when they used to fly either as kids or when they got married, they talk about it quite positively and say they liked it.

Is it just flying has become more complex and commercialized since its inception?

I work at a private beach in an affluent area, and I've noticed that the kids here usually are not overweight, unlike at public pools or beaches. What could be the reason behind this?

I know it sounds dumb. Because rich want to stay rich and keep poor people poor... BUT just in the past 60 years living expenses have increased by anywhere from 100% to 600% and minimum wage has increased a whopping 2 to 3 dollars, nationally.

In order to live similarly to that standard "American Dream" set in the 50s/60s, people would need to be making about 90k/yr from an average income job.

My husband (28)and I (23) live with his two closest childhood best friends that he calls brothers. -that is a whole separate schpiel- So my brother in law (28) says the most cringeworthy misogynistic things and also wonders why he can't get a girlfriend. Examples: "Men must sacrifice themselves at the altar of the divine feminine daily" "Omg those running shorts are so inappropriate for young girls, don't they know the pain they cause me to see them jogging? I hate myself everything I realize I'm checking out a minor" "I have a problem at work, because my coworker shows cleavage and it's EVERYTHING I CAN DO NOT TO THROW MY EYES DOWN REPEATEDLY IT CAUSES ME PHYSICAL PAIN"

And obviously more but these are the highlights I could go on but I think you get the point. My question is multiple parts I guess, is this normal man behavior? Because it seems like a hormones imbalance to me, would treatment or would a one night stand fix this? I'm not sure how to go about this but now I'm having to worry about what I wear in my house, at what point does that transfer to worrying about what my daughter wears? Is he a creep or is he too honest about male impulse
