Age doesn't matter.

With those that are close to me, cousins, brothers of friends, my dad, I'm alright, but there's always a bit of tension, not between each other for the most part, but mainly just me.

I don't know how I can be straight when the only time I can appreciate men is from afar through a phone screen.

It's not like I like women either, but at least I'm comfortable around women.

How the hell am I supposed to get married?

Are they trying to be cute, or is it some kind of hip code or something?

Don’t remember the last time I held a white person’s hand, but I think I remember their palms being really soft, so it got me wondering.

I am using reddit for an year but not able to comment on some subreddits because of low karma. I usually you reddit to read others response and sometimes post few questions. Although i never even received much response on my posted questions. This makes you feel least interested in posting questions and makes you limited to just reading other people’s questions and answers.

There was a comment that said

“this is why we read ‘if you give a mouse a cookie’ to kids in elementary school”

As a stupid funny haha I replied

“yea to teach kids not to feed pests - my sister likes to feed raccoons- it’s not a good idea lol”

It’s removed instantly for an “unacceptable slur”.

What the hell did I say? xD I’m so confused- did I offend raccoons??

Edit: It was in TrueUnpopularOpinions it that matters

This idiot switched their lane so quick and without their blinker signal. I smashed into their car my front bumper came off. I know it looks like my fault but it’s their fault. I just know my insurance is going to blame me

If gunshots go off, people say did you hear the gunshots?

If fireworks go off, people say the fireworks were loud.

Why does lightning get its own word for the sound it creates?

For context, my sister is 20, is blind in one eye and has needed help learning her whole life. She finished high school and has no interest in college, she has worked as a babysitter with us (mom and I) having to her drive her everywhere.

we just heard from her current job (parents of the kids she babysits) that she has been falling asleep, has no interest in teaching the kids

my sister has no motivation to work, no desire to improve herself (although she is disadvantaged)

i just dont know exactly what type of job, what she can do to make something of herself OR will my mom and I be forced to have to take care of her the rest of our lives

i have a stable job that pays enough for me to cover my own expenses, rent etc but like do i just need to do more, second job, hustle, idk im just at a loss of words…

Also, someone told me to throw out all the knives I own and just buy a new set (and sharpen them after each use), because "once knives get dull past a certain point, they'll never be able to get truly sharp again."

Is this true?

Original Title: Had a falling out with a friend. He knew our address and signed us up for a ton of junk mail to the point where its filling our mail box every single day. Is there anything we can do to stop it from arriving? He signed up for it with his name.

I've been writing 'not at address' on them all and putting them in the outgoing mail slot in the hopes that they get to him eventually. He moved a few weeks ago and won't give us his new address.

Long story short, 22 years ago I was supposed to board Flight 175. I bought the ticket but never boarded the plane. In a twist of fate I was supposed to be off to College to LA and I found out my girlfriend was pregnant while in the waiting area. So I ran home instead. It was just crazy news at the time and there was no way in hell I was leaving my girlfriend knowing this. I kept it in a box all these years and actually forgot I had it. I'm not sure if I should donate it to a museum or sell it. Would that be disrespectful to the victims? Thoughts?

My six year old is asking basically daily to drink PRIME because all his friends do it and they all have random swag from PRIME. Looks like an energy drink to me, so automatic "no" for a six year old? Are all the other parents just insanely neglectful or am I missing something?

EDIT: For those you that seem not to know, there is Prime energy drink which is like a red bull and is in a can. There is also a Gatorade-like drink in a bottle, no caffeine. The kids at this school are drinking the sugary Gatorade drink and they are all sharing it around. I'm not the kind of parent handing out sugary drinks and it sounds like a little culture is forming at the school. I may suggest the teachers look into it if I get more stories of kids bartering with it at recess. Thanks all for the replies here!

In my country we have a famous actor called Mats Melin, who's 54 and has down's syndrome. He's awesome, and it's great to hear that he lives independently with his own apartment, and does not require much aid at all.

How common is this among people with down's syndrome? Do most people eventually become independent?

It just seems that most every old person, especially my parents, that I meet seem to think the having an amazing and fancy signature actually means something. As if I'm going to apply for a job and give an amazing interview and then get denied cause the signature was bad. Are they just trying to keep a dying aspect of their life relevant? Most kids aren't taught cursive anymore so it's likely going to mostly die in the US anyway within 20-30 years.

It's only really used to prove fraud anyways so having a poor signature doesn't matter since it's just as hard or harder to copy than one that hardly legible because it has "style".

Opinions? Am I right or is their more to this?

This shouldn't sound entitled or anything - I'm genuinely curious as to what these people mean. Because where I'm from (EU) it is basically illegal to work two full time jobs at the same time (and I couldnt imagine how it would be possible time-wise)

So what do these people mean when they for example say "I'm working two jobs and ends still don't meet". From my understanding its an American thing?

After years of peer reviewed studies and graphs and scientist saying the same thing, why do people still debate on weather climate change is a real issue or not?

Very occasionally I'll use the word "sans" in place of "without the" - it just fits some sentences better in my opinion. I used it with my boss this morning and he was like, "what do you mean? I don't understand."

And it felt weird to have to explain the word "sans" and he looked at me like I had 3 heads and jokingly said that I can't get "fancy" like that on him.

I never really even gave second thought to using the word.

idk maybe my (26f) opinion is trash, but i got in an argument on another sub about age gap relationships and it was weird to see how many people just don't see an issue w/ it? (age gap is 25f and 42m, started dating at age 23 and 40, i think)

obviously it's not the worst age gap, and both are adults, but i'm just suprised that more people aren't grossed out by older men pursuing women in their early 20s? am i insane or have other people experienced this on reddit?

edited: use of word preying and referring to 23 y/o women as girls

I constantly hear things like:

“Third time is the charm”, “You should try for a boy. Every man needs a son”, “Keep trying, but with your luck you might have with another girl” “It’s okay, girls can be fun too” “Are you going to try for a boy?” “Lucky you! You don’t have to worry about their career because they can just marry rich” “You need to be more careful because they are girls”

After gender testing we told a family member that it is a girl. She responded saying “there is still hope. These tests are like only 95% accurate”

I rebelled against such statements previously and someone was like “of course you would say that because you have girls” I rolled my eyes and bowed out of that conversation.

How do you think I should handle such comments?

I(25f) love my boyfriend(26m) very very much. He was an only child and didn't have his parents there to play with him/make him feel loved. Nonetheless he has turned out to be a stunning human being. However, he has told me that he always wished , as a child, that someone would sit with him and watch him play video games. I think it's his way of healing his inner child. His friends always forced him to watch them play, but when it was his turn they all left him alone at the TV.

Now, I am also a gamer, so watching someone play is never an issue for me. BUT most of the time that he wants to play something and have me watch, I want to play my own video game or just relax on my phone reading reddit posts. It irritates me that he won't let me sit in silence on my phone while he plays games when I've said to him " I'm just going to sit quietly on my phone, you enjoy your game".

He will constantly ask my opinion of things in the game, ask me for advice or tell me to look at something quickly. I'm usually fine with this but sometimes I just want to "exist" around him without talking. He is a very sweet and sensitive person, so I don't know how to tell him this without him taking it personally. And if I don't tell him, I'm sure I will explode one day and say something I regret, which I really don't want to do.

Also.

Ps: I'm autistic.

A friend of mine offered for me to stay in one of her apartments while visiting on vacation, and never once mentioned any payment for this, so naturally I took her up on her offer. We saw each other several times while I was visiting and it was never mentioned either. An hour after I landed back home, she texted me saying that I owe a big amount of money for the stay. If payment was expected why not mention it before I bought my plane ticket? I never agreed to this, and I would not have gone on the trip if I would have known what it would have cost.

My birthday is today. I paid all my bills so i can’t do anything money wise. I have no friends in this state to do anything with. And normally I don’t celebrate anything on this date due to people pitying me for being born on 9/11 (I was born before the tragedy) but still.

How do I celebrate? Oh and it’s raining lol
