So I see a lot of posts on r/Tinder of People dealing with extremely rude people, or posting their stats which are like: 20mil Swipes, 4 matches, 2 dates, 1 murder. I am happily married, but I have some friends who are trying to meet people, and I feel kinda bad for them whenever I see those posts. Whats Up? Are these apps useless, or is it a case of Humans only focusing on the bad?

Okay, so I've been living next door to this asian family consisting of 3 men and 3 women in a house too small for comfortable accomodation of that, for around 5 years now, and they seem friendly enough, whenever they see me, they wave and ask about my father (who's not long for this world) and that's all well and good.

Thing is, I'm a smoker and a night owl, so it's not uncommon for me to be outside smoking one or two on the porch at 2-4am each night, just comfortably hidden behind the foliage and shadows of my yard. It's that type of house that see's everyone, but everyone can't see it kinda deal.

Well, around once a month, usually on a weekday, some white Lexus FWD speeds up and smashes the handbreak right outside their house, two asian dudes get out quick as fuck and carry a huge plain packaging box over to the fence and toss it over an then speed right the fuck off like they're under arrest.

Around 5 mins later, a few of the people inside come out AT 4 IN THE MORNING and pick this package up and secret it inside super sus like... Well, this has been happening for a while and I've told my friends and family, they are either spies or drug dealers.

Anyway, forward time to around a week ago when my dog's favourite toy goes over their fence, and I need to go over to get it. I enter their property and immidately notice, it's wrapped in thick plastic and ducktape, doors, windows, the sides of the varanda, pretty much anything that you can see through is just rushedly wrapped in plastic and tape.

They have no doorbell, it's been taken off the wall, so I knock loudly a few times and the whole time all I can hear is people talking in Chinese, and they sound really suspect. After like 10 fucking mins of me saying "Hello, anyone home, I lost my dog's toy" the "friendly" lady comes out all sweet and cool like and says how she can help while holding the door closed behind her.

I explain that my dog's toy is over their fence, can I go get it, to which she quickly said no and that they will throw it over for me in a few hours, they are just busy right now... I was like, kay thx and left. I wanna point out that there is a very unfortunate smell as you get close to the door, I'm not into drugs so I don't know what they smell like, but it's pretty chemically to say the least.

It wasn't until what happened last night that I decided to write this here today, as it was the first time I've seen it happen. Like usual, I'm out front having a smoke when that Lexus rolls back at around the same time, only now it's the neighbours that are bringing out several big unlabelled boxes and everyone is hurridly fitting it into the car, before just disappearing into the night like burglars.

This time I put out my cigarette and knelt down so as not to be seen an witnessed the whole thing. So what do you guys think is going on? I live in the suburbs in what is considered a nice area and so this kind of behavour sticks out really loudly.

Makes sense as you age perspective partners within an ethical age range will diminish through: marriage, die, change lifestyles to become unsuitable(perhaps change ge religion i.e)

I mean it makes sense but I wanted to double check because that’s pretty depressing especially since men and women out here on the internet still being sexist to each other like we still in middle school

The other day I stayed in a hotel with friends. We had the hotel breakfast buffet. To my big suprise, half way through the meal they pulled out tupperware boxes and started making lunch. I was completely surprised. Yes, the buffet was expensive, but this felt like 'cheating' to me. What is the etiquette here? Is this a normal thing to do?

An example being a company raising a subscription service from $10 a month to $30, people being outraged, then them reducing it to $20, with people then being a lot more accepting of the change, while the company always planned to "reduce" it to $20 in the first place.

As the title says, if i ever want to have a conversation i have to start it, and i count a reply like 3-4 hours later then when i messaged to count as they messaged first, because they, responded, not started. now for mental health reasons without telling friends i have been hospitalized, and Ive had this thought for a while, and today after my best friend, who is also my crush finally told me, "Move on" that broke me. so is it a bad idea to see if any of my friends will message first/how long it takes them to see if something might be wrong with me.

TLDR: never get messaged first unless people think im in trouble, so plan to go invisable for a week and see what happens.

Just saw a post earlier in the community, and need to say that I (F30) have kinda the same problem. I cannot say that I am ugly, but not Insta-beauty, and boobs are small. I am quite a clever person (not flexing, just working on my PhD degree), with a good sense of humour. But at the end... I don't feel that anyone would date with me, I am more a buddy type (and I have a lot of male friends), it's nice to hangout with me but "you know that nothing can happen between us, right" (direct quote)

So, what should I do to become not only interesting as a person, but also interesting as a woman? I kinda suspect that men are looking for some "secretes" in female partners, but wtf is that, how to learn to be a mysterious woman?

Upd. I realised that I used a wrong word... For me desirable is something more than just a hookup. You know, i imagine it's about being someone you want to have by your side for life, like desirable in a long term, not out of hunger:(

I started drinking on my 19th birthday. I just had my 37th in August. From the firs time I started drinking up until now, almost nothing has changed. I have the same level of self control that I had as a young fella as I do now as a grown as man.

Admittedly, I am WAY more functional as an alcoholic at 37 than I was at 19, but how the fuck do I stop!? I can go to all the AA meetings that I want and all that does is make me want to hit up the bar down the street and get tanked. So what is it!? Why is alcohol so damned irresistible!?

I cannot comprehend those who say they don't eat vegetables. I mean, I have 1 vegetable a day (at minimum). I can't imagine just... not... eating vegetables? Apparently some people are proud of this?

Helped my mom put together and start up her CPAP machine tonight. Im only 20 and she’s 63 and has worsening breathing problems. She’s always been older than my other friends parents and I’ve always known this. But every now and then it just hits you and it’s hard you know?

I don’t know why but I just cried a little bit after seeing her with it on. Just made me really sad. It’s a new leaf of getting old that I havnt really seen yet. She also got news a few months ago she’s likely to get cataracts.

How do you not get consumed by hurt/sadness in moments like this? Aging is natural and there will always be a grief to watching your parents get old. But how do you not get completely consumed by this grief?

I've been able to see things my friends and family can't, most things are quite weird like sillouettes of people watching me, chasing me, touching me, talking or playing, and children. I also see many strange things in my house and school especially, but the weirdest things are the floating eyes when I'm looking for something, the blood everywhere when I'm stressed, and the two very tall floating things that follow me everywhere and seem to stop other ones from getting near me. My parents tell me It's fake and I'm saying it for attention, my friends think I'm lying and call me schizophrenic and insane. Is this normal for anyone else?? Like is this just a thing that happens to people or is there actually something wrong with me????

What physical threat does a ghost pose that makes it threatening (e.g. scary)? Something like a vampire or werewolf implies physical harm, but not a ghost. They're scary because they're unexplained/supernatural, but what does a a ghost do to "harm" you?

I know it's ancient news now, but I was just thinking about the Hot Coffee controversy concerning GTA: San Andreas. I found myself asking, in an ADULTS-ONLY video game where you can freely murder innocent people and commit every crime under the sun, why did people draw the line and lose their shit at the possibility of seeing two fully-clothed adults having consensual sex?

Hi, I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, so sorry if its not and the mods can take it down. if anyone could recommend somewhere else to post this please let me know.

I've told many of my female friends I'm not a fan of male company, and I've had mixed reactions. I understand it is probably weird and not normal since I'm 21m myself. When I'm in male company I'm much more introverted, and tend to enjoy my time alot less than if i were just in female company.

I do have male friends, a handful of them, and they notice I am more shy and quiet around them. I find that it takes me much, much longer to warm up to men rather than women.

When I'm in female company I'm my natural self, extroverted and enjoy my entire time.

The rent is sky-high for probably unsafe (both crime wise but also health wise) housing. I searched for a rental in downtown NYC (both the Bronx and parts of Manhattan) and the rent is fucking crazy high for apartments that in 90% of the remaining USA would be 1/6 the price.

The constant noise like sirens, construction right outside your window, etc. Why would anyone want this? I know when I was younger (I am 30 now) I wanted to live right in the downtown of a big city to be "in the now" but I even though realized making the move would not be worth it so I didn't do it.

Is it because if you live downtown and work downtown you are able to be car free and no car payment = hundreds more in cash to pay for rent?

What is the catch here? Obviously some people love living downtown, even in not safe housing and I want your perspective.

I live in the USA.

I don't hate living here, but this has been my plan for several years. I can't live in a house under the supervision of others where there are also little kids living. It drives me insane.

My birthday is in April and obviously I have to finish highschool first. My plan would be to move out next summer. I want to study out-of-state for the opportunities.

My tuition is completely covered. I won't have to take out any student loans. I have 2-3k in savings right now. I would love to get a job and continue saving, but that's been brutal. I live in Colorado and nobody has bothered to hire me. I don't know when I'll be able to get a job.

I know about the housing crisis and everything. It scares me to see people in their 30s with a degree not able to afford housing comfortably.

Would moving out next summer at only 18 be achievable? Or should I just stay and do college in-state? I don't really know what it's like out there and I don't want to drown in my finances or anything.

I’m a senior in high school and have smoked weed occasionally for the last year or two. I’ve been smoking a bit more lately so i’m wondering if I’m causing permanent damage. I have my life under control though and am doing well in school. I have hobbies, I excercise , I have a social life so it’s not like the weeds directly messing anything up. My family is extremely anti weed / alcohol so let me know what you guys think.

The only rule is don't dress like you're selling ass. I hated having a dress code when I worked retail. The only thing that made going to school tolerable was that we could dress how we wanted, show off our fashion, and see everyone else's fashion. I feel bad for those who have school uniforms, such a rule seems so stifling.

Maybe employees could wear a hat with the store logo or a badge or a lanyard so customers can tell who works there and who doesn't but not a full outfit.
