Breaking changes are also fewer and farther between these days.
I mean, I have never had to distrohop to solve a problem. Granted, I have had to boot off a flash drive to fix issues on more than one occasion.
As the other guy said, #NixOS is great. It requires some learning however.
Yeah Lemmy is definitely lacking polish in a number of areas. One of the things that bothers me most about Lemmy is that the local feed is the default instead of subscribed.

As far as video editing there are two that people use, davinci resolve, which is proprietary, and kdenlive which is FOSS.
As far as cad, your only good options are blender and freecad. Blender is mesh modeling, but I've been able to do precise mechanical stuff with a few addons. As far as freecad goes...idk I haven't used it.
@porkins out of curiosity, what software do you need access to that isn't in linux? These days I am not really missing anything.

I got an e-ink device because it's easier on the eyes and battery easily lasts a week when I go camping.
If it were possible to get an e-ink display, I would definitely use one for programming.
