I respectfully disagree. We have had different lived experiences but that does not make it a lie or that I was tricked.

It’s in the summary but I agree with the sentiment. For example, there has been an influx of conservatives to Idaho (the one in the article) from neighboring states like California and Oregon which they believe have become too “liberal” makes sign of the cross. So location can be extremely useful for context as well as geography.

This is the reason I have my family on the Apple ecosystem as much as I hate it and wish I could throw open the doors of Linux and just live in that open source utopia. The number of devices needed and the purposes of those devices grows every year. Apple is mostly idiot proof, it’s the same experience across all devices, and I just do not have to worry as much about “can you help me with…”. I can’t imagine even attempting this with Linux. It would be a nearly full time IT job explaining things and putting out fires.

Darn that science, keep that liberal where it belongs, in the humanities.

About a 4-1

Can we please stop blaming ‘drugs’ or ketamine specifically, even when joking. This is seriously hurting its reputation and future use as a therapeutic option. It might not feel like a big deal but every time we say this it normalizes it. Not targeting you specifically just trying to call it out any time I see it - thank you.

I read about it and I’m a little confused. I’m not who you replied to, just a curious lurker. That’s a fascinating and very powerful event so first thank you for sharing, but I couldn’t figure out how it culminates in stripping power from robber barons

I’m a staunch Ukraine supporter and I agree with your assessment this is frankly clickbait. It’s important we hold ourselves accountable and only stick to the facts. If we don’t, we give over the narrative to those who have the power to influence it.

Makes me very sad because of course brain drain is inevitable under the circumstances, but selfishly I worry for my families future without them. We can’t afford to get out. Many of us didn’t have the opportunities to become someone who could leave the country in any capacity, let alone now. Just…please if you’re considering this, remember who you’re leaving behind that aren’t the Trump sycophants. I know it’s not your job to fix anything. But if you’re moving to some place because it’s more equitable, I would find it extremely hypocritical that you would be contributing to inequality yourself by doing so.

And, if you’re still not convinced, think about this. This ad is specifically for Finland. That’s a country that just joined NATO because it rightfully fears Russian aggression. But now NATO isn’t a reliable alliance, and Europe will be scrambling to create its own defensive pact. Finland is one of the most immediately vulnerable in this gap however - so, if you move there and Russia comes knocking, when does the running stop? Do you now stay in Finland or do you just keep running?

Imagine every comment being an aggregate of the “best” human submitted comments as decided by the AI, so it’s just less overwhelming for our little minds to have to choose what to vote on. It’s not unrealistic imo.

As an American this is exactly why I’m not as well. GOG exists, and I have a decent library to fall back on regardless. Now’s the time for us to do that.
