I did this. I got about a 4c reduction on my t480 i7 when running geekbench. Well I also switched to honeywell ptm7950 thermal pad at the same time so not sure which change helped the temperatures the most.

You can get the dgpu heatsink and the thermal pad from AliExpress for about $30usd

Just make sure you tape off the underside of the dgpu heatsink so it doesn't short out your motherboard. I used kapton tape

I just went through that. Authy no longer allows you to export 2FA. That firmly solidified my decision to leave their service.

I had to go to each website that had 2FA, go in and disable 2FA, and then add it again using my 2FA app.

The t480 was the last thinkpad with a useable CPU and a rich feature set (dual battery, removable battery, replaceable ram, ability to use a 2nd SSD via the wan slot). Linux support is great and libreboot support was just released for it.

I also have a newer amd x13 thinkpad. Sure the overall performance is better but the keyboard is not as good, s3 sleep battery drain sucks, and it takes forever to boot up

Lemm.ee had some scheduled downtime a few hours ago when it was upgrading to the latest Lemmy software version. You might have ran into that when you attempted to sign up

I've unsubscribed from all the politics communities. The app the I use (Sync) has content filters so you can filter out post titles that contain the names of certain individuals that I don't want to hear about

Outset Island from Wind Waker. I used to leave the game on to just take in the music and ocean sounds

I guess you could flip it around and make the bottom the top 🙃

I have a gigabit internet plan with Comcast , cost me $80 a month. And yes there is a 1.2tb data cap each month. Every 50gb that you go over, you are automatically charged an additional $10. Oh I'll just choose another ISP...nope Comcast is the only option in my town. Not unless I want 5G cell Internet or satellite which is not super reliable or fast.

Yes SearXNG is awesome. You can even self host your own instance for added security/privacy. I have my own instance running on a free tier Oracle cloud 1core/1GB ram and it works great.

I got an 5800x3d and 64gb of ddr4. I see no need to jump up to a new CPU and invest in ddr5 memory yet. The performance benefit is only a few percent just isn't worth the upgrade in my opinion

The Dreamcast version of Ep1 Racer has better graphics, cutscenes, and hacks to get 60fps. Redream works on Linux
