The point of federation is to connect different servers. Lemmy is not one website. It is many different websites that happen to share data. A link being posted to multiple websites is fine.

Maybe if you're seeing too many duplicate links, you're subscribed to too many duplicate magazines/subs/servers.

Would be nice if their license changes for this one to something a little more FOSS-ish. Not a huge fan of usage restrictions.

That being said, I wonder how it will compare to Mistral. I've been using the Mistral-7B-Instruct-v0.2 and have been absolutely blown away by its capabilities for its size. Makes me wonder how much more we can squeeze out of these smaller models.

Actually, it doesn't say anything about parameter size other than a guess. I hope they keep making these smaller models, though.

The courts get things wrong all the time. I may have to legally abide by their decisions, but I am not morally bound to agree with them.

Courts guarantee an answer, not the right answer.

I don't buy that legal theory. AI models as they're trained are the very definition of transformational. It's fair use.

Probably, but that assumes that the transcribers went from video to video following the algorithm. I'd suspect that they would randomize the videos they chose somehow figured out some other distribution.

But that is just a guess, you could be right.

I don't think the Mouse should have that copyright either. I'm not a total copyright abolitionist, but the time needs to be much shorter like patents. And I think likenesses should fall into the same category.

You shouldn't own anything well after your death, including your likeness. By your logic we couldn't make films about Cleopatra or use Shakespeare's work.

I wouldn't be surprised if he does. But I also wouldn't be shocked if he just doesn't care enough to. I feel like using a slur requires a level of vitriol that Trump seems to reserve for individuals that he thinks wronged him. Come to think of it, I bet he calls a judge or prosecutor in one of his cases the n-word at some point.

The RNC and conservatives in general haven't done a single thing for as long as I've been alive that hasn't raised alarms.

I complain about it because its both reductive and counterproductive. But I don't think the majority of anything actually complains about that. It is usually a vocal minority of people chirping online or in safe spaces they feel they can vent and be hyperbolic.

I can't decide if its better for it to at least be out in the open so we can denounce it, or if it was better when kept private and not openly practiced. One affects the hated group directly, but the other lets ideas fester and go unchallenged.
