opens new tab

the verdict "misunderstands services that are critical to the security, performance, and reliability of Android devices."

Ummmm maybe I’m misunderstanding but how on earth is opening a new tab critical to security and performance?

Perfect, no notes

Is there a good FOSS service for discovering new music based on taste? I hate a lot of the closed-source algorithm BS that corpo apps force users into, but Spotify winds up doing a fair job at finding deep cuts that I enjoy

It could very well be, I’m not familiar with this product at all. It does come to my attention that the statue of liberty’s torch is the most prominent visual element on the page; combined with the block of text and the name of the phone itself I could definitely see where the poster is coming from, it gives off a nationalist air despite it being fairly reserved/neutral in its visual language. It kinda makes me think the purism name was no coincidence but I’d like to think otherwise

The URL being puri.sm was what I noticed first

It’s strange to think about how complicit the public has become with this. You mean to tell me that 185 separate connections to other companies are required for me to… read an article?

I’m not very well read on this so I could very well be off-base, but couldn’t you leverage the heat as a means to desalinate saltwater instead of using freshwater and letting it evaporate into the atmosphere?

I definitely need to spend some more time on there. I’ll admit I’ve been dismissive of their library, partially because of it being tied up with Google, but also because I tend to recognize their fonts in a lot of different places while I’ve always been able to dig up well-crafted niche typefaces on Adobe that suit my design applications

I’d be really eager to dump my Adobe suite subscription for good, but a significant factor holding me back is how vast and high-quality their font library is. I’ve poked around a bit and found some resources like Open Foundry but beyond that, what I’ve found is relatively sparse.

Are there any good resources for finding open-source (or at least public domain or the like) fonts? Or are there any specific open-source fonts anyone has used before that they’d recommend?

This article is pretty old but I thought I’d share it here. The Party Source is among the biggest liquor stores in the Cincinnati region, and the owner sold it in its entirety to his employees through an ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan) structure.

I keep finding myself having to manually disable and re-enable a few different settings as I use Librewolf, namely Letterboxing and WebGL, as I switch between browsing the internet and trusted sites or home server UIs. Is there any way to configure these on a site-by-site basis, or at least from a container/profile interface of some sort?

Who are your big upset picks? Who are your champions?? Who you got???
