lemmy.ml is indeed the instance run by the developers of lemmy. But this "lemmy place" that you're complaining about doesn't seem to have anything to do with lemmy.ml or the lemmy devs... It was just an activity that one instance admin put on, as far as I can tell.
OK, but you understand that nobody here has anything to do with that, right? This was just some event that an instance admin put on. Maybe you should run the next "Lemmy Place" and use rules that you feel are appropriate?
Ahh, ok... so it clearly wasn't some sort of centralized "Lemmy" thing (I was wondering why I, as an instance admin, hadn't heard anything about it until after the fact). With that in mind, have you considered posting your criticism over there?
Sorry, I don't know who Grant is... could you be a little more specific?
Honest question: who was running this "Lemmy Place"?
they bring some of their failed policies with them
Can you elaborate on what you mean by this?
Count Chocula
I would say he overpaid by exactly the right amount.
I'd like to propose a rule prohibiting blatant attempts to sell things (like linking to a product on Amazon).
The question is not "is it better than a normal vacation?" where of course the answer is "no." Rather, the question is "is it better than your regular work routine?" The answer to that depends on a lot of factors: your specific job, personality, personal finances, family obligations, etc. I think there are lots of circumstances where it could make sense for some people.
I really think there's nothing better than Photostructure in terms of viewing and re-discovering your photos. It's still a young product going through growing pains, but the things it does, it does well.
I haven't been reporting since it's not clear that it's a violation of any rules. I guess that's what I'm hoping to clarify with this post.
