Taking out just Turkmenistan here for instance completely blunts this and Uzbekistan while possibly to bypass by a long routing around via Kazakhstan is also pretty important.

I'm guessing these countries will be making bank on tolls on these routes. Even a pro-US government would not be very happy if asked to shut them down.

Why are they askiing for this? Wouldn't a Ukraine with even fewer Russian speakers be even more Russophobic? I thought they wanted all of Ukraine to stay neutral, but this is just asking for problems down the line.

The whole idea behind the formation of the EU, which the US helped push for, was to squash this rivalry

But does the US want to maintain this system now? Perhaps they see the EU as a competitor and want it to gridlock, or even fragment.

What I understand is that the consciousness requirement was placed so that people could verify that the animal was healthy and had not been ill-treated. Stunning is allowed after examination and before slaughter. Meat certified by the UK Halal Food Authority, for example, is from stunned animals.
