Working with your hands is hard, but at the end of the day you can step back and see what you accomplished. Not sure excel ever gives that sensation.
I forget the brand but there was one you could etch a design on the cover of the CD with the burner. Futuristic tech at the time.
Not automated but you can get a radon manometer to identify pressure differentials. Install on both sides of the filter. Identify where pressure is with a new filter, mark it, and see how it changes over time and determine when to replace it.

Some are better than others in both power and nozzle angle/placement. Sometimes you have to shimmy to get the angle just right if the power is low. It should result in a wipe in which no fecal matter remains, only wetness, if executed properly.
