On ed2k/kad I find a lot of results for these seasons, you could give a try

If they do not want to maintain and update a pihole, it is better to just use public dns, like adguard.

Why put a limit? Just infinite forever unless you have a cap in your connection.

Maybe you find what you are looking for on other p2p networks like ed2k/kad or dc++. For old content are usually better than public trackers.

My preferred network is ed2k/kad, but for new things bittorrent and then seed to both networks through mldonkey.

out of curiosity, which network do you use to seed?

I use mldonkey 3.1.7 for ed2k/kad and bittorrent, in the past I have used dc++ for a short time, but I prefer the idea of ed2k/kad.

Well, I have running mldonkey for months non-stop without problems, only shutting up the system for updates. I used precompiled .deb from debian sid (I think it is not available anymore, but I am sharing through ed2k/kad). I am sorry that you had this problem, maybe it is because it is Ubuntu and not debian, who knows.

I use MLDonkey 3.1.7 (July 2020) with debian 12.
