The package pre and post scripts are run as root. These are the things that make sure users and groups exist and other such tweaks to the system. You are essentially trusting the packager doesn't put anything nasty in there.

I've been very happy with the Amazfit I've had for the last couple of years. The built in GPS is great for tracking my walks and the accompanying phone software seems to be decently maintained and supports Fit and Strava integrations.
That does make their task at the next election a lot easier.

We had money controls in the 70s but it basically led to poor inward investment and expats waiting for a change of government before coming back to the UK. Why move capital into a country you're not sure you can take it out afterwards.
