Thank you so much! I guess just one last question then: if I go with the black then the base of the keyboard will always be black, right? No way to change that?

Yes please, thx ๐Ÿ™

So I'm stuck with the black version then? No getting around it? ๐Ÿฅฒ

Ah, gotcha. And again what about the firmware and software? Anything of note I should be aware of?

Some keys are shaped different in the different sizes though, I don't think I can just grab anything I can find and make it work can I?

Again none of them have any backlit keycaps, just the black one only. Also the black is the cheapest priced one out of the different colours available.

Again I'm not very familiar or super tech savvy with this stuff, I only know some basics here and there. Is a Keychron better then a Royal Kludge then? By how much? Do I have to pull apart the R75 everytime I wanna swap a key or something? How's the firmware and software stuff?

Aren't those keycaps for a different keyboard though? Will it work? And again I'm looking for backlit stuff, very important to me as otherwise I literally can't use the thing in any environment but a super bright room.

Not super tech savvy, please bear with me. Hope this isn't the wrong community to post this in, couldn't find much on here.

No idea why so many people don't care about this but, these things are extremely sensitive, stupidly so considering how expensive they are, I've been very gentle and careful with my QD-OLED monitor, used clean microfibre and no chemicals or anything, and there's already small tiny little microscratches in the areas that got smudges and what else on them and that I had to clean. It's thankfully not too severe but still a majorly bad sign for what's to come, am not happy with this. Lord help me when this thing inevitably gets dust on it, no fucking idea what to do about that...

I'm considering a screen protector but there's nothing for this at all other then old monitor specific stuff on Amazon and the like, also heard about heating issues with these things, apparently they don't play well with protectors? Also affects the image quality I hear. Do I have to get a custom one made? Where? Is there something I'm missing? I don't want this thing to keep scratching up by the smallest of day to day things, burn in is already enough anxiety for me with this thing haha, I also am gonna have to pack it up and move it around in the near future so not something I can gloss over, need a solution to this or it's gonna bite me in the ass sooner then later.

Okay did a bunch of running around, out of everything suggested the best one for me seems to be the RK R75 for now, even the price is super good, half what everything else is currently priced at for me (hope that doesn't mean it's the most poorly built...). Wish it was white or pink/turquoise though, don't like the black, the other colour options for it don't have any backlighting for the text, and trying to find custom stuff for the keycaps is not straight forward, not familiar with this modding stuff, and also weird availability and pricing once again.

Should I pull the trigger on it? Anything I should be aware of it? Why it over the Razer? Is it's brown tactiles similar to what the Blackwidow V4 has?

150$ is my max budget rn. Won't say my country for personal reasons, very sorry, I know that makes things difficult.

Generally though the bigger the brand or the more internationally focused they are the higher likelihood of them being available, the nicher/smaller the brand the less likely they'll pop up and also way more likely to have weird prices and taxing if they do.

Costs on the other hand I have no clue, it's all over the place. Something that costs 60$ in one place can cost anything from 90$ to 200$ locally for no clear reason, online or not, it's very random... So the more choices for me to look into the merrier I say cause your guess is as good as mine haha ๐Ÿ˜…

Can you recommend a specific model or something? Availability is near non existent for me on that brand sadly, and whatever little is available is VERY expensive and doubled/quadrupled in price, and lacks the things I'm looking for. Couldn't find much that's similar to a Blackwidow V4 75%, it's perfect for me and my needs, it's extremely well rounded, perfect size for me, has RGB text so I can use it in darker lighting (seems very rare to find outside of the big brands), comes with a wrest pad out of the box (also very rare to find), is hotswappable (I checked, it fully supports this, so no idea what the other commenter meant or if they forgot), has media controls, and felt amazing to click on when I tried it once, just the right amount of resistance for me to avoid misclicking constantly, it's got everything I need, it's just the quality control and weird regional bullcrap for warranties that I'm afraid of, otherwise I'd go with it without a second thought.

Nicher brands may or may not even be an option for me, only the big brands have somewhat of a stable-ish presence globally, nothing I can do about that, it is what it is, so idk what to do here. Multiple recommendations would be appreciated for me to look into.

Please bear with me, I'm not very tech savvy.

The keyboard seems perfect for me and my needs, tactile orange specifically, white colour, but the fairly bad quality control and issues surrounding it is putting me off, heard it's guaranteed to start double clicking at some point due to a hardware flaw or something, idk exactly, and Razer doesn't directly serve in my country (even though their everywhere here) and availability and warranties and what not are super weird for my region as well, so no guarantees I'll be able to get anything fixed if anything goes wrong months later after a purchase. Worth the gamble or no?

Any alternatives that are very similar to check out? Couldn't find much as well rounded or fairly available as this one for my needs while searching around.

It's totally fine, no worries!

And again as I've said before I don't wanna distro hop anymore, this isn't my first distro (but am not a linux expert or anything, very much a normal/casual user here), jumped around a lot for a good while now before eyeing up Fedora to be my main, have a good idea of what I want and so am focused on the long term and reliability of the thing.

And well, you kinda said it yourself haha, it's up to date but stable, and it's basically taken the place that Ubuntu originally held as a jack of all trades of sorts, that's literally it, that's my reason for being interested in it, Ubuntu has been extremely hit or miss for me in regards to stability and updates (literally the system at one point nearly bricked itself when trying to upgrade and am now stuck on a specific Ubuntu version forever because of it, the updating thing seems completely borked for me, can't upgrade it without wiping the whole thing and this isn't the first or last time anything Ubuntu based has done this to me before, updating it is very dreadful for me because it's a complete gamble), and as far as I know Fedora seems to be a lot more stable and polished on that front, haven't heard anything majorly bad about it.

That's good to hear, well alright then, what legal stuff would be concerning if I may ask? Heard at one point they were gonna get rid of hardware acceleration or something because of legalities or whatever?? But then changed their minds? Idk, stuff like that worries me a bit haha.

Really appreciate the in-depth explanation, thx! I'll take a look at the links then.

So with all of this considered, do you personally think it's safe to go with Fedora long term? Even in a worst case scenario? And if not then what else should be considered for me?

I also am curious about Fedora's whole "leading edge" thing, do they push for new technologies even when it'll cause issues or are they careful with it?

I'm not super tech savvy or familiar with the linux world much, nor do I know anything about the drama behind these things, so please bear with me.

Heard a lot of bad things about RedHat and vaguely know that they have a lot of influence over Fedora and things like Wayland, which I'm planning to make my main OS sometime soon. How concerned should I be in the long term if I settle with Fedora? Don't wanna constantly distro hop anymore, Fedora is the closest thing to my needs for now.
