It'll be just like Reddit, if you want to avoid the huge mega popular communities you absolutely can. And the smaller more specific communities that you want to interact with won't have the annoying traffic you're talking about.
And eventually it'll end up like 4Chan, only technically still existing.
I recommend the app Jerboa on the playstore, and make your default sorting all/hot. Welcome!
You're absolutely goddamn right. Changing that is not exactly a priority for me at the moment.
Upload and down vote are still present, and unless I'm mistaken this comment section I'm looking at is still sorted by vote score.
Hate down votes are inevitable, I don't think they are a result of your total number of points being displayed on your profile.

It's not that I do sit and stare at the wall, but that I would be happy to.
It's more like you'll have trouble opening some links without a script like this. It's my understanding that the link points to a post through an instance. A script like this will link you to the same post through your own instance.
So it's not that it's preferred in some sort of etiquette way, but this script will make links work more effortlessly or at all
